Srebrenica massacre: 'What happened should be known'
« on: July 11, 2024, 12:15:03 PM »
The time now passed, and the Eastern European rhythm of the name means part of my brain processes this almost like a part of the Holocaust. I feel there's a period of 'history' that we allow to lay fallow until we can process it. Growing up the 1st World War seemed more vivid than the 2nd. The horrors more understood.

When The World at War was shown, it felt like an acceptance of the need to treat it as history, rather than a shattering nightmare. When the war in Ukraine broke out, it seemed to me the reference was more back to WW2 rather than the Balkans War.
