I didn't see the interview, but it is pretty well known that Balls and Cooper are married, and it appears this was made clear. This part of the report seems relevant:

'But a spokesperson said: "Taking into account that their relationship was made clear twice, that a range of views about Labour's handling of the riots were included in the programme as a whole, and given the vast majority of the interview was conducted by co-presenter, Kate Garraway, we will not be pursuing further."

So viewers will have been well aware of their relationship and would be able to make their own judgements accordingly.

To be honest I'm rather more concerned about the myriad of close relationships between individuals that may be on either side of an interview which would not be apparent to viewers. Those that relate to the networks that many in the establishment will maintain, not least due to friendships at schools and top universities. So while it may be totally apparent to viewers that Balls and Cooper are married, it may be far less apparent that (for example) were the journalist James Forsyth to have interviewed Rishi Sunak that the two were old school chum and Sunak was best man at Forsyth's wedding.
