I think it may depend a bit on the job, and I think some time in an office if it's planned to have a relevant team together works. I think that the article doesn't take into account either that WFH was part of many companies' strategies before Covid due to space constraints, and that many jobs were in offices with little direct team collaboration because of teams being spread round the world. Certainly I spent many days prior to my sort of not quite retirement travelling to the office, putting on a headset and then on calls and in meetings with people none of whom were in the same office, or same country.
