(For background) I had a loooonng, long meeting earlier today and after that, I realised the advice I had was 'Learn how to shut your trap. Until you got a good answer back.' Then I realised what the 'answer back' could have been.
So for (more) background, the advice is from The Pendine Incident, one (of many) Ginger's songs (available on Band Camp or Spotify, but Band Camp is a much more ethical app).
Gonners is determined to only give one bit of advice from Jesus (because he's a Jesusist?)
So, whose advice is better? Jesus's one or all of Ginger's (/ some old bloke near death). The full advice is
1 - Put your faith in the one who tries.
2 - Don't gossip and don't tell lies.
3 - When in doubt, buy the larger size.
(Narrative intermission)
4 - Never trust a judgemental man
5 - Listen to those you are younger than
6 - Be good just because you can
(Narrative bit)
7 - Make up after every fight.
8 - Alway kiss your girl* good night
9 - Don't buy underwear too tight
(Int)
10- Shower even if there ain't no stink
11 - Stop caring what people think
12 - Always buy the first round of drinks
(...)
13 - Learn how to shut your trap, Till you've got a good answer back
14 - Admire in others what you lack
15 - When I doubt do something kind
16 - Be prepared to change your mind
17 - Always leave the past behind
So for me the tenet no 13 has (almost) allowed me to use 13 & 17. together.
* - I can't change the word from 'girl' to ''significant other'.
(Again not sure if everyone would know, but today's meeting was like a loud mouth pub bore...)
