To all of our many Muslim posters.
;D Good one. Thank you.
I identify as a Sword because I have abstract social constructs e.g. honour and patriotism. My preferred pronouns are "kill/ maim/ dismember"

Quite handy with weapons - available for hire to defeat money laundering crooks around the world.

Oh dear!  Fighting again, and I was thinking it was time to remove your hereditary title of 'Violent'.

Hmm - I don't know - I think the title is apt. Mainly because I was in the British Territorial Army (OTC) at university and we were made aware by the British army instructors at selection before we signed on the dotted line that violence is an integral part of the role and we could be required to shoot people and that while unlikely there was a possibility we would be called up to go out to Iraq. We were taught to strip, clean and reassemble an SLR and point and shoot live rounds. Lots of people who have been in the armed forces will probably tell you the same.

I have also trained in kick-boxing with a martial arts academy. Martial arts training seems to be very popular based on the number of adults and kids signing up for it. So clearly violence is part of what it is to be human for many people. I would not call myself a pacifist - if I felt under immediate threat of physical violence that would result in an unacceptable level of injury to me or loved ones or even innocent strangers, I would probably use violence to try to protect myself or others if in the heat of the moment I thought that was the best option. I have been threatened with physical violence and willing to receive the first blow - part of kick boxing training is being punched and hit to condition your body to receiving blows as that is what will usually happen in fights.

As I have no intention of trying to change these aspects of my personality, I would say that "Violent Gabriella" is accurate. I think violence has its place in defending yourself or others.

Perhaps I should start a thread...

Perhaps I should start a thread...

That might be an interesting topic.  I believe the words Islam and Muslim have 'salama' - 'peace' embedded in them,  and humans, like other animals, have the three 'f's' embedded in them - fight, flight and freeze when confronted with threat.  Despite the initiators of various religions attempts to promote peace and love, the history of mankind seems to have exploited more efficient ways to express aggression and violence.

Thanks NS on behalf of me and all the other Muslim posters and lurking millions. Eid Mubarak.

We had a nice celebration of our festival with the extended family, just chilling, eating, chatting, badminton and cricket in the garden - like many other families this is the first time we have all met up in a long time.
