Tory party moves to protect slum landlords
« on: January 12, 2016, 07:57:50 PM »
Tories reject move to ensure rented homes fit for human habitation

http://gu.com/p/4fmk6

How the fuck did 37% of voters vote for these vermin? It should be a national scandal that they got more than 37 votes.

However unappetising, the shortest and simplest explanation for this phenomenon that I've ever been able to come up with is that some people are complacent, self-interested, self-satisfied, I'm-all-right-Jack-fuck-you-especially-if-you're-poor-or-old-or-ill-or-homeless cunts.

Have to say that this had been dealt with a few years ago - it may simply be that it has been here in Wales.
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

Dickens summed it up somewhat less vituperatively.

"Oh, to hear the insect on the leaf pronouncing judgement on his all too hungry brothers in the dust".

If you want a serious answer, remember that last time around, the Tories were moderated by having to take their coalition partners into account, so their worst excesses were curbed somewhat. I think a lot of the voters simply voted for "better the devil you know" forgetting the devil they knew was muzzled last time but isn't now. Plus Ed Miliband looks like he was made by Nick Parks.

Because the impression Labour and UKIP gave was of a similar ethic to the Tories, but without the economic competence, and the Lib Dems were crucified for their traitorous ways - I think people are beginning to appreciate how much they actually did for us. I suggested that it wouldn't need very much history for Nick Clegg to be vindicated.

At least Corbyn's Labour are offering a genuine alternative to the Tories this time - it remains to be seen if anyone's actually that interested in an alternative.

What I gather is a continuing growth in membership indicates as much.

I'm not sure it does - I think it indicates that previously disenchanted left wing voters and activists have found a figurehead to admire and support, whether that translates into  wider support throughout the nation remains to be seen. Ever cautious me.

Caution is wise, as Corbyn has tons of Labour MPs plotting against him, plus most of the media are hostile.  However, I don't see any alternative - unless you are excited by the prospect of Dan Jarvis!  I think the Blairites are a busted flush.

Ultimately hasn't the absurdly petty media hostility backfired and actually redounded to Corbyn's credit, though? I remember reading through the comments on the Scaly Mail during the 'Corbyn didn't bow to the Cenotaph at the correct angle' nonsense and overwhelmingly people were of the opinion that it was ridiculously over-the-top and just made the media (and assorted RentaGob Tory MPs) look like a load of tits with a grudge.

The fact is Shaker is all comfy and very smug in his house but he wants to deny families the opportunity to have a new house. Yup, he wants to deny families what he has and keep the rats and mice living in the field beside him.

How so?

The PM himself has pledged that green belt land will be preserved as he is a 'Country boy'.

Furthermore the money pledged to solve the so-called "sink estates" is truly pitiful and might cover the cost of tearing down and rebuilding one such estate. Prvate enterprise is, of course, going to solve our housing crisis.

I look forward to it. Its not like they haven't had plenty of time to practice - perhaps they just haven't got the hang of it yet.

Or perhaps, like the majority of the rest of the housing industry they are just greedy so and so's and they are looking after their own best interests by keeping housing stock low - so that prices remain artificially high and in parts of the country totally unaffordable to people on ordinary incomes.

Not only that, but they are not prioritising small, affordable homes (ignoring the government's ridiculous reclassification of 'affordable'), but rather the mid-sized, large family homes that maximise profit for land-use whilst still supplying a starved market.

Not sure that even that will be needed!!

Actually the Tories have just passed a bill that makes it OK for landlords to rent a house where the rats and mice are inside, not in the field next door.

Hameron [sic] is the MP for Witney in Oxfordshire so I suppose that makes him a country member.

Dear Country,

On the subject of Mr Corbyn, commonsense, the man is definitely growing on me.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-35330331

I think more companies are actually coming to the concussion that their workers are not just a commodity but something to be valued, but it is not some kind of altruistic motive, they see bigger long term profits in a happy workforce.

Mr Corbyn needs to stay sensible, steer clear of the raving, ranting socialists, don't go chasing the Monarchy, stay focused on the greed mentality of the tories, see past the smoke and mirrors of that bunch of no chin wonders.

Actually Nearly, I wasn't lying at all. The Shaker has written rants about the habitat beside him and having a Shaker fit cause people want to have a house beside his.  You wouldn't have noticed because your mind is so dirty and filled with rot. What a low class, gutter mentality you have. Run in your family? I won't ask your smut to be removed as I think it's a good example of who you are.
