Space music anyone...?!
« on: February 23, 2016, 10:21:03 AM »
Hi everyone,

Here is a video of sound recordings made by Apollo 10 astronauts in 1969 when they were on the far side of the moon.  They all heard some weird... wooo... sounds that were unexplained. The secret sound files have been released recently. Some  technicians believe it is interference from the radios of the two modules.

NASA has made public a recording of strange "music" that astronauts reported hearing in 1969 while on the far side of the Moon, out of radio contact with the Earth.

The story behind these unusual whistling noises was showcased on Sunday night in a show on the cable channel Discovery, as part of a series called "NASA's Unexplained Files."

The noises reportedly were heard in May 1969 by the Apollo 10 astronauts as they circled the Moon, months before the first astronauts stepped foot on the lunar surface on July 21 that same year.

The three astronauts on board were Thomas Stafford, John Young and Eugene Cernan.

The sounds, which lasted about an hour, were recorded and transmitted to mission control in Houston.

A transcript of the text was released in 2008, but the actual audio has only just been made public.

"You hear that? That whistling sound?" asks Mr Cernan, describing it as "outer-space-type music."

Maybe that's how the 'woo' word that you guys keep referring to was born!  ;)

Cheers.

That sound is really weird. If it had been some sort of interferance wouldn't they have had that all the way, in the background?

Interesting that it just wasn't explained as interferance at the time openly, instead it was just purposefully hidden away.

It just shows they would hush up anything interesting,  given the chance.

Perhaps they were afraid it would give ideas to progressive rock groups.

For some reason some people ( in positions of power) think we couldn't cope with the idea of anything being out there.

Which is why things like project blue book was classified.

The U.K. Has now published its findings, but only because they didn't really find anything conclusive.

For some reason they think we would all panic and civilisation would fall.

Chicken little and the sky falling, springs to mind.

I think it would do us immense good to find something, we might not be so human centric and religions would have to grow up fast or die out.

I was going to say they had discovered "the clangers" but it didn't sound like that  :) :)
