Discoloured new £1 coins

My husband left his coins in the pocket of his jeans when they were put for the wash. After they had been washed all the older coins were their normal colour but the new £1 coins had become discoloured and some of the gold had turned to silver, WEIRD!  I reckon they might be rejected if they are used to pay for goods. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

I think many women have experienced this problem. If you show him how to operate the machine maybe he could do his own washing .!

You have to be joking! I remember 20 years ago I was visiting my home island leaving my husband at home. He needed to use the washing machine and had to phone me three times for instructions, which he found hard to follow! This is a guy with a MENSA level intelligence and four degrees, who was at the top of his game in those days. Whilst he is a very practical person, DIY etc, it is strange how anything of a domestic nature, like doing the washing, ironing, cooking and cleaning is well beyond his capabilities! 

I think some men are scared to do these things wrongly (in the eyes of the female). This is interpreted as not wanting to do 'women's work' or being lazy around the house. Same with child care. They need to be empowered to use a modern phrase.

My husband has no intention of being empowered where domestic tasks are concerned. But to give him his due, it was my job to be the homemaker, I have never had to go out to work since we married. My husband has provided well for his family.

No can't say I have and one or two have found their way into the washing machine.

My husband used the discoloured coins yesterday at the coffee shop in our village, they had no problem accepting them, apparently.
