Johnson's £900m illusion.

The PM is asked about overseas care workers in the UK paying fees to use the NHS.

Sir Keir Starmer said the immigration health charge is set to rise from £400 to £624 a year.

Boris Johnson said the government had to look at "the realities" of funding health care and this was the "right way forward".

Alexander B deP Johnson stated that it brought in £900m. In the absence of any other information, this is most likely to be interpreted as an annual figure. It turns out that this sum relates to the income over 4 years for all foreign workers. The cost for health and care workers is just £35m a year.

Under present circumstances one would think that any encouragement for such workers to stay in the UK would be essential. Do we really deserve a prime minister who (a) misleads the House of Commons and (b) despite his own recent experience, wants to penalise those who engaged in this essential work at the moment?

  I would ask do they get tax allowance for the making of them payments and do the Government want to shed more light on the subject.  Whether you are health or care workers you pay this amount here  for all foreign workers and I dare say we have to pay a lot more when we go to their countries. It is the same everywhere isn't it. And the Corona virus is abroad too.
