USA Police Actions

I have searched for threads for which this would be an appropriate contribution. But, although I went back four pages, did not find one.

The attached article, from the New Yorker takes a somewhat linguistic view of one of the USA police black shootings, looking at Kim Potter's resignation letter and what its phrasing might be telling us. It states that there have been nearly 900 killings by police officers in the execution(!) of their duties. Mercifully, not all of the victims have been black.

One of my conclusions is that the whole concept of policing in the USA is incomprehensible to someone living in the United kingdom.

Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?
