It is good to see that this tribute to Stephen Sondheim tells of the role that Oscar Hammerstein played in Sondheim's development. This was missing in the BBC reports of his death. Some of Sondheim's first lessons in stagecraft came from him acting as an assistant to Hammerstein on the productions of Carousel and Allegro.
