Deputy Tory chair on foodbanks

Well, I hate to say this, but I think he's right. Anyone on £30,000 a year - more than I get - should not need to use a food bank, and I think food banks have become political ammunition to some extent. Otoh, the idea that anyone can feed themself on 30p a day is ridiculous.
"That bloke over there, out of Ultravox, is really childish."
"Him? Midge Ure?"
"Yes, very."

Given the growth of foodbanks, it would surely be only sensible that they are politicised by their nature?

Anderson's argument is a reductive one. Everybody's situation is different. Could I manage on £30,000 a year? Of course, I could. I manage on less. However, I haven't got a mortgage, 2 children and any other number of costs associated with running a family. Add on top of that living in a society that is predicated on, and encourages conspicuous consumption, then it is no wonder that some people cannot manage on £30,000.
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. - God is Love.

The only people using a food bank are the ones who have to. Most are proud of their jobs and struggle to get through. They be forced to pay much higher fuel costs, rent and any childcare, then contact the CAB, to discuss their costs and get a voucher.
I had to pay for my childcare for six years and everytime my savings went down and down, until they hit nothing. That affected my mental health far more than anything else. (In fact, they weren't even my savings but I'll leave it there.)

He's (yet) another Tory whose happy being ignorant.
