Huw Edwards
« on: July 15, 2023, 08:07:41 AM »
I note that no-one has yet made any comment about this matter.

I will not make any comment about Huw Edwards' behaviour - its causes may be more complex than we think and I note that, in general, the media are respecting his privacy.

What does strike me is the nature of the accusations made in The Sun. They appeared to me to be mainly directed at causing damage to the BBC, which is one of the most respected news organisations in the world - and, with the exception of the monarchy, the best known British brand in the world.  The Sun, however, is a part of the Murdoch empire ...

The main contributor to the story, who alleged criminal behaviour, was the stepfather of one of the victims. His stepson, through a solicitor, challenged the accusations.

Is there any hope that The Sun might suffer a similar fate to that of its stablemate the News of the World?

Hi HH

Yes. It was Murdoch doing what he does. Rmember Liverpool?

The fact that there are reports of him telling BJ when he was PM that he had to get rid of the BBC adds weight to my assessment of this incident.

That he did it with no concern for at least two vulnerable people makes it all the more despicable.

Neither the BBC nor the Murdoch empire come out of this particularly well, but I suspect (and certainly hope) that long term the damage will be greater to Murdoch.
Before we work on Artificial Intelligence shouldn't we address the problem of natural stupidity.

Profound apologies. Thank you for the correction.

It's noticeable how much more blase the gen. pub. are nowadays about TV journalists talking to camera in the street, compared to decades ago. Back in the 60s, they would rapidly get a crowd behind them, jostling to get their faces on TV. Now, people just walk on past, at most looking in the direction of the camera as they do so, apart from a couple of kids in this case.
When conspiracy nuts start spouting their bollocks, the best answer is "That's what they want you to think".
