Technically, they aren't turning tides, they slowing down floods.

The only tide they could be changing is humans attitudes.

(There was something similar about rewilding with wolves, it was studied and the results were very good, but did seem a bit counterintuitive.)

There are several schemes for the re-introduction of beavers in southern England.
Among the locations involved are Devon, the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds.

I used the expression 'turning tide' with reference to changing attitudes not with reference to real tides in the sea.
