Another new word I've just read in a Guardian article about Kamala Harris - "mementum", meaning a growing wave if support on social media.
When conspiracy nuts start spouting their bollocks, the best answer is "That's what they want you to think".

I think it's the use of it as a noun and 'the ick' that is being seen as new.
