Cancer Fund raising Hike

I suffered  from brain cancer approximately 5years ago and it took a long time to be diagnosed and treated with chemotherapy. With great thanks to the Charity research scientists, the NHS nurses and doctors, I am now in remission and still recovering from cancer.
Most recently, I have reached the age of 50. To mark this, my aim is to hike 50km (The Peak District Ultra Challenge) and raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity. Any donation received is fully appreciated.
Thank you,

(Barely an) UPDATE!
I went for a walk this morning covered 3.ish KM in half an hour, so my average is just over 10km/ hour. At a guess 50km could take 5hours but the hike will be that bit tougher (/ longer).

For a bit more background,  the hike will be (sat) 25th July. From Bakewell to Bakewell in a Big loop.
Thank you for the donation, thank you for Sticking (?) this up and support. Any more donations would make me less grumpy ...😐
The links up and down should explain more. Thank you.

I've had another look at the statistics  and I've  realised they aren't the figure I'd quoted before. The figure is 10mins/ km, not 10km/ hour.
Just turned out I was vastly over optimistic. It's more likely to be about 8hours (and a bit) to hike 50km.
(To simplify it even more the correct figure is 'mph'. The wrong figure was based on hpm. You can blame the app for showing the figures in a different way, or for me not checking enough.)

Another walk today; 5.5km in the cold. 55minutes.

I've been intouch with The Brain Tumour Charity and they're sending a (physical) funding pack. I may not help here, but these links 👇 will.

Any donations  can include gift aid (@25%).

Donate £8, the charity gets £10.
Donate £10=>£12.50
Donate more and you'll  feel 25% better for a very good and thorough  worthwhile cause.

Good news, is marvelous but sorry you have had to go through this.  It is worrying for all the family isn't it, My uncle is in his 80.s had a tumour removed a couple of years baxk
They left him after diagnosis, sat in the day room waiting to be admitted. At 7pm left to go home and get dinner and a drink.
They rang my aunt his sister and asked her to bring him back it was urgent. He went back the next day and they operated. He has no headache he just wasnt able to or do his crosswords.
. Now he is on the mend and doing all the things he did before. Take care and please attend your check ups. Sneding hugs. :D

Thank you Sassy, I appreciate  your sentiment. There isn't  much I can remember, but I did have two brain operations. After the first, they said they couldn't find the tumour, so they changed my treatment, so the tumour would get bigger.
Once the tumour /was/ big enough they took a sample from my second brain operation which they could then use to diagnose and give me the right life (& brain) saving treatment.
There are lots of things I really have no memory  at all. My biggest memory was that the tumour started during Covid. Both have effected me, my boys and my wife. Some even now.

UPDATE
I've posted an update in the just giving page, below. I walked 50km over last month(Feb) and now it's  March. I wasn't  aware that this would be some sort of calendar order but Marching in March does me some impetus.  Next month maybe I'll  be Apriling around, but I'll have to wait and see.

I NEED another £15 To meet my 50% target. I'm very, very grateful for everyone's donations so far. This is keeping  my motivation as high as possible.

First, I'd like to thank EVERYONE for donating and for so many supporting  messages.

As you may know, I have now passed the 50% threshold and to celebrate, I went on another walk.

So yesterday and today I've walked 22km.

My ulrimate aim is to walk (/ hike) 50km in one day,  so I will keep going. So far, so good, but a lot further...

Thank you, thank you thank you.
Matthew
