It's likely he will pop his clogs before sentencing.   If he goes to gaol he will almost certainly die in prison.  I doubt his age will affect his sentencing though he would obviously have to be sent somewhere that has facilities for a geriatric.

It makes sickening reading

I found this bit quite chilling: "The court heard he abused the girls at his home in Erdington, in the cab of his works truck and in his garden shed after placing them on a work bench."

Horrible man.

Nas-ty.

When you think about it, floo, there are loads of old people (twenty years or more older than you and I), walking about (or hobbling), living relatively normal lives, sometimes pillars of community  :o, who were active pervs and paeds when we were young girls.  Back in the day when youngsters were not believed.  The vast majority of adults were not like that at all and couldn't even begin to imagine it, especially not about someone they knew;  the idea was too shocking to contemplate.  Hence the 'cover up' culture.

Well I for one am not sorry to see the back of those days.

Yes indeed and young people are far more streetwise.  Of course, it isn't only minors who are abused but I don't want to go further off topic (& sexual abuse is not the only kind).

:D, Thanks floo!  I know this is the "off topic" thread but going on about one issue would alter the spirit of the thread so I won't say more here & now;  the subject will undoubtedly come up again, on another thread.

Other than that, I don't have much to add today except that I seem to have lost two Christmas presents that I want to wrap;  I've searched everywhere and they are eluding me!  It is quite frustrating.  At times like this, I wish I still smoked!

That is gorgeous, floo, a lovely present.

(No sooner had I posted my previous response, I found the two presents I had mislaid - virtually right in front of my eyes in a store bag.  Whoopee!)

I see the forum clock is no longer fast, which was irritating. No doubt thanks are due to Jeremyp, our forum techie.  :)

I am feeling old, my eldest grandchild is 15 today, he is the same age I was when I met my husband in 1965.

My oldest goes back to university for his second year next week. My youngest was due to arrive into the world this week. I'm not even going to get started on how old I feel!!!

Today ten members of the tap group went out for our annual lunch at a nice restaurant which is, incidentally, owned and run by a man who has, with his twin brother and twin children, tap-danced all his life!  Food not quite as good as usual in the choice I made, but it's the company that is more important. Also it is the one time of the year where everyone can chat for an hour or two, without being called to order by me in the studio!! :)

I'm not well today. However this means I can stay in bed with books and my journal and ignore the mess in my kitchen.

Well, on the subject of health - I had a bit of a funny turn yesterday. While walking home from town, I came close to passing out, managed to get to the Surgery on the other side of the road, and then had to sit fighting for breath. This is not like me. No problem at tap this morning though.

diagnosis by amateur message board doctor is the most efficacious!!!!

Was just a punt, I've had it combined with slight dehydration and the symptoms are similar but generally easily remedied.

Also I have to very grudgingly take into account that I'm nearly 81!!!

The latest version of my SuperNova is V16, so I bought it. Today I thought I'd instal it, having been reassured by Dolphin Tech that all I had to do when the disc was in the computer was to press Enter each time. Well, I was flummoxed straight away because the first thing said, 'Play with Windows media player. I pressed enter, then it said, 'Choose options.... or something so I gave up immediately, and have left a phone message with Tech Support to ask them to do a remote and instal it for me!!

TodayI phoned the Highways Department to see if there was any news on a problem I reported where I am in danger of falling. The only saving grace is that I would be on a controlled crossing, so car drivers would see and, presumably, help. Anyway the news is that the problem is going to be dealtwith next week during half term. The crossing concerned is for the large Comprehensive School  and the Leisure Centre.

Has there been any news of Leonard James since Gordon's post in December?
