I'm intrigued as to who posted the link, though. Their login was 'U V' (with the gap) followed by quite an old number.

Reveal yourself ??

Ha,ha..... probably not.

Just seen your post, Shaker. Yes, it's a real shame. I only looked-in there occasionally but always enjoyed reading the comments and reviews.

A good name for a goldfish, floo.  Better than ''Jaws'' or ''Moby'' which I have known in the past.

I had to google Tim Peake, had forgotten all about him.  I bet he's glad to be back.

Newsthump have pointed out that Tim Peake wishes to stay in space as it's a bit shit down here.

After 80 years of hands free from problems, I have acquired arthritis in the middle finger knuckle of my right hand. *grumble grumble mutter mutter* I'm using Ibulieve gel but I would like to register a complaint somewhere about this! :)

Sounds good floo, I used to do them years ago.  I have a feeling, if I started doing jigsaws, I'd become obsessed with them.
I like crosswords.

Susan, I'm sorry for you.  You might find it subsides, comes and goes.  I know the arthritis won't actually go but I mean it may not be acute for long periods.  Everyone gets a bit of arthritis after the age of 25, doesn't always cause problems.  Hope you get some relief with Ibuleve, the gels are pretty good.  My husband uses them, including Voltarol gel.  It's better than taking stuff by mouth which can be gut rotting.

Your sister's sounds like my mum's old medicine cupboard floo.  I remember finding all sorts of odd stuff like Arnica (yellow) which must have been bought in the 1940s, Calamine lotion and Golden Eye Ointment!

My medicines can get out of date too.

The trouble is some of them can become stronger or weaker or not have the desired affect after the sell by date has passed.

I think some of the reason they get so old  is because you are not supposed to bin medicines but take them to the chemist for disposal. I rarely remember.

In fact sometimes I'm lazy and put them in the bin   :-[

You are meant to take them to a chemists for disposal.

After my op I had awful trouble trying to dispose of used needles ( had to inject myself, something to do with blood clots) neither the chemist nor the hospital would take them in because each insisted it was the others responsibility.

I wouldn't throw those in the bin.

In the end I got a bit narked and the chemist agreed to dispose of them.

I think that's why drug addicts leave the flippin things lying around.

I kept taking the things back and forth trying to dispose of them in a responsible fashion.

Same here floo.  You can still buy it but it's not called "Golden Eye Ointment" any more, it is sold by its proper name of chloramphenicol eye  ointment.  Not that I've ever bought it.  It was probably very effective - but not the tube I threw away after my mum died  :D.

Rose, I would think most of us bin out of date medicines.  Not 'dangerous' stuff but the sort of thing you can buy over the counter.

My dad recommends goose grease for a chesty cough, I've always been lucky enough to avoid that one.

Vasiline is wonderful stuff, the wd40 of the human body.

Calamine lotion another good old one.

Optrex another one, use it once then the bottle sits there  :D

Thanks goodness we were spared goose grease! Mum always put Vick on our chests, as I still do today.
My granddad was very ill. We rubbed goose grease all over him and after that he went downhill fast.

We have Germolene and TCP too.

Does anyone use talcum powder anymore? I haven't used it for years. I used it on our kids when they were small, but I can't remember it being used on the grandchildren.

No, I don't think so.  It's pointless stuff but I remember using it when I was a teenager.  Not since.

I haven't seen it yet floo, was quite keen to do so actually.  I've heard mixed reports.  One critic described it as actors enjoying themselves, in other words, being self indulgent.  I'll wait and see.  I've only ever seen a few episodes of the original 'Dad's Army' so not really in a position to judge, J has seen more and used to enjoy it, plus recent reruns on freeview channels.

Shaker hasn't been around for a while, I hope he is OK?

I was thinking that today.

He vanished the same time as another lady poster he had a lot in common with.

Perhaps they aloped  :o

I see Mick Jagger is going to be a father again at the age of 72! It will be his 8th child, his girl friend is only 29. When the child is 20 he will be 92, assuming he is still in the land of the living!!!!!

I was a bit scathing about Ronnie Wood becoming a father again at a fairly advanced age.  His young wife or girlfriend had twins!  However I thought about it and he may well be a very good father for a good few years;  when he pops his clogs his wife will find someone else of her own age  :D.  With Ron Wood, I don't think I've ever quite got over how he treated his previous wife, Jo;  messing about with the 21 year old au pair.  Still that's history, he's moved on and presumably Jo has too.

Mick Jagger - well he makes a career out of having children  ;D so it doesn't surprise me one bit.  By all accounts he is an excellent father and grandfather, the kids all love him to bits so this one won't be any exception.  Imagine having Mick Jagger as a dad!  There's some street cred in that.  Again, the girlfriend can find herself someone more age appropriate at a later date.

Last night my husband and I watched the new Dad's Army film, and were very disappointed. Goodness knows why they bothered to do a remake, Toby Jones as Mannering was pathetic, and the rest of the cast weren't much better. We used to enjoy the old Dad's Army programmes, they were amusing, but this one was silly!

Anyone else feel the same way about the film?

You apart from the fact that it is, supposedly, set about two years after the need for the Home Guard to wait for a Nazi invasion of the UK was past? Along. of course, with various other historical inaccuracies!

It is hot and humid here; I am wishing for snow!
What I hate most are the hot nights. I know it's hot when my summer duvet feels like my winter one in spring. Perhaps this post should have been on another thread but what heck I'm a rebel!!!
