Good luck, LR, At least you are in a cooler part of the country which will help him to stay well once home.

We have had the temperatures as high as 32C! My husband definitely has a UTI, they have put him on antibiotics They may discharge him tomorrow or Tuesday, I am hoping for another day or two before he comes home to fully recharge my batteries. I will see him this afternoon.

I have only one family member left, an aunt (who was living immediately next door and was, for all practical in tents and porpoises, mum #2), who is 90 today (and somehow healthier, fitter, livelier, more zesty, more energetic and just more everything than I ever was or have ever been), so a bit of a lash-up in a reet nice place is in order.

Posting light until further notice. If it's more than a few days, send out the helicopter.

My husband was in a great deal of pain when we saw him a little while ago. They had removed the catheter at 10.30 am but  he still hadn't managed to go when we arrived about 3.30pm, in spite of drinking plenty of water. The longest he has ever managed to last in the past was 2hrs, and that was on rare occasions. But the silly man didn't like to tell the nurse he was in pain! :o Anyway they will re-catheterise him, as soon as a doctor is available to do it, as it is now a specialist task, a nurse can't do it. I don't want him coming out of hospital until they have sorted him out.

Sounds like he is in the best place right now, LR - and he's better there until he is recovered enough to return home. Fingers crossed he improves over the coming days.

I think they might discharge him today, with the catheter in place, I believe it now has to be in for two weeks before they will try to remove it again.

My husband was discharged at lunchtime. I am still getting to grips with how to sort out his catheter, and how to attach the night time one to the one around his leg. I am not great on written instructions, I prefer to be shown how to do it.

This is worrying for you LR but I'm sure you'll cope. You say the hospital gave instructions & hopefully spare bags to your husband on discharge.

The District Nurse should have been contacted to come in regularly and care for his catheter, worth phoning your GP to make sure that has been put in place.

There are some youtube videos demonstrating what to do with night time catheters attached to leg, might be easier than reading instructions.

Good wishes to you both.

I wasn't shown how to connect up the night catheter, as there was a screw up. No one on the ward told me that he was being discharged, and he was already in the discharge lounge when I finally discovered what was going on! Anyway, our youngest daughter put in an appearance this afternoon, and worked out what to do. She explained it all to this senile old bat, so hopefully I will be able to do the business later on.

Our tiger is sunning itself just outside the front door. From a distance it looks realistic, in 2005 when we were in a rented 4th floor apartment near the prom in Eastbourne for nine months, we thought it might be fun to take it with us. I was so amused when a group of Japanese tourists congregated below the apartment taking photos. ;D

There is an extremely strong smell of smoke this morning, I assume it is from the grass fires some miles away. We have only had one heavy shower of rain lasting about 5 minutes, instead of all the rain forecast. :o

Something amusing, seeing Mary Berry playing drums at a festival, I wonder if she gets smashed on vodka afterwards.

I often state I am never going to do something again, then do it! ::)

This morning both my husband and I are candidates for the funny farm, we have been scene shifting yet again! Last time we moved certain items, which are really heavy, I stated categorically that they would stay put forever more! However, my husband had other ideas, good ones at it happens, so once more the furniture was on the move.

This morning our tiger is sitting outside our front door sunning himself.  I have explained to him that he must be on his best behaviour, the freezer doesn't require restocking at present with his offerings.  ;D

Er....Tiger? Is that the name of your cat (who catches rodents birds and fish for you)?
They do like basking in the sun as long as it isn't too hot, when I came in a little while ago next door's cat was sprawled out at the front of our house.

I mean a tiger, we don't have any domestic cats anymore.  The local kids keep asking if they can stroke him. It is a pity I can't display a photo of him on this forum, as I can on others on which I post.

Auntie Myra, the lady who saved me from being mown down by a horse and cart, which bolted towards me on the drive of my childhood home in 1952, when I was 2 years old, is 101 years young today. :) Auntie Myra has all her marbles in good order, but her mobility is not so good these days. I have told her I am expecting her to reach 110 at the very least. :D

Went to the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival today, where I did my bit in the war against the demon drink by killing a few and taking five prisoners.

Our Baby Daughter popped round to see us today. She and her family got back from Florida yesterday, they had a pleasant time, particularly enjoying the space centre. :)

I was having problems with my Kindle, over the phone my eldest daughter has just talked me through how to fix it. :)  I like my Kindle, it has buttons to press, which I prefer, the more modern ones are touch screen, which I would find hard to use.

I quite often try to use the screen on remaining non touch screen devices.
