I needed a new seat fitted on the loo in my en suite bathroom, it was very awkward to do and I didn't want my husband doing it after all his recent problems. Our eldest girl turned up this afternoon and soon had it sorted out for me. What would I do without her? :)

Glad to hear you're 'comfortably bum' again, and if we lose an 'n' that is a great cue for a great song!

Well you do have more than one loo.

My personal loo too needed replacing, a year or so ago. I just used another one until it was replaced, didn't take long.

I am quite chuffed because I have done most of Saturday's cryptic crossword, but I'm hoping someone  can help with this:
what is the word that means when you set something in motion, it will keep moving in that direction if there is no friction, gravity or a blockage to prevent it? I've tried googling but can't think of the right way to phrase the question! It's a ten-letter word. I have T blank N blank T at the end but am not convinced they're right.

Is that pretty much how the clue is phrased? I'm not sure that there is a word for that.

The only word I can think of is momentum, but that's probably because I've been reading about politics!

The clue is: Natural impulse about Diane isn't clear (10)
turbulent?
Thank you - I'll make a note and see if I can confirm some of the other letters.

Yes, me too ... and then of course it is difficult to move one's mind away from that word!

Thank you Rhiannon - actually, having now written this post, I wonder whether my idea that it might be that word I can't think of is probably daft!!

Sorry, Susan.

Think of Diane as being Di.

natural impulse = instinct

Diane = di

Isn't clear = indistinct

Undecided, but sounds right :-\

Rhiannon and enki

Ah, thank you,. Yes of course it is INDISTINCT. And I should, of course, have thought of it myself!!!

With help, gratefully received,  for just one clue, I have completed the Saturday puzzle crossword!!! I hope bluehillside is reading this because  it was reading that book by Sandy Balfour that helped me do that much more quickly than I would have done. Mind you, I think the setter of the Saturday crossword must have been one whose style suits me.

I managed to do my back in yesterday morning, goodness knows how. It is really painful when I am moving around, but I have to keep going. I hope it sorts itself out soon.

It is a beautiful day here, as it has been more or less since Thursday. It is the weekend of the Bournemouth Air Show and I bet it is doing fabulously well. The Red Arrows will have flown on both days, and they will be doing so soon. I do just so wish I could be there, standing near the Pier and catching as many  glimpses as possible of their wonderful performances.

But I simply can't of course - far too many people even if I had someone to go with me. Ah well, I have had the privilege of seeing them quite a few times over the years.

bluehillside is, and well done! As you know, I'm retired from here (the trolling was such a bore in the end) but I'm glad you like the Balfour book as well.

All best.

Blue,

I’ve no idea who this troll is.

I’ve noticed that banned posters has been updated. No connection of course.

Delighted to hear that, and thank you for popping in to say!
The cryptic two weeks ago was so difficult, I gave up after a clue or two.  This last Saturday's I have a few answers but will need to look up some synonyms to help I think.  It certainly seems to be one where the book's )and your) explanation of how to put the parts together is needed.

My grandson (nearly 15) was rushed to hospital last night with a terrible headache, radiating down his neck. His parents thought he had a ruptured aneurysm like his grandfather, my husband! This was how it had presented itself when he had the one which trashed half his brain in 2006. The hospital was eventually able to rule that out, but they thought our grandson had a very bad migraine. That has been ruled out too, but it now appears there is something wrong with his neck, hopefully a muscular problem, but they are going to check for a small break! He is a very good football player so could have done something to it when he had a match yesterday. The hospital also did a routine urine test and discovered there could be a bit of a problem with his kidneys! His mother has a problem, which revealed itself when  she started uni in the 90s! It never rains but it pours. :(
