My grandson (nearly 15) was rushed to hospital last night with a terrible headache, radiating down his neck. His parents thought he had a ruptured aneurysm like his grandfather, my husband! This was how it had presented itself when he had the one which trashed half his brain in 2006. The hospital was eventually able to rule that out, but they thought our grandson had a very bad migraine. That has been ruled out too, but it now appears there is something wrong with his neck, hopefully a muscular problem, but they are going to check for a small break! He is a very good football player so could have done something to it when he had a match yesterday. The hospital also did a routine urine test and discovered there could be a bit of a problem with his kidneys! His mother has a problem, which revealed itself when  she started uni in the 90s! It never rains but it pours. :(

Very sorry to hear all of this Floo, hope it turns out to be something easily sorted out.

I wish you all well, ippy

Thank you for the kind comments. :)

A HUGE sigh of relief our grandson's condition is muscular, no doubt due to whatever happened when he was playing football. He is still in hospital waiting to be signed off, they are dealing with an emergency at present, but should be back home later on tonight. He is in a very pleasant teenage wing there is all mod cons where computer games are concerned, so the  wait shouldn't be too arduous.

Obviously  his kidney problem will need further investigation, but that is for another day. It is possible he is allergic to Ibuprofen like his ancient grandmother.

All being well he should be back at school on Wednesday. :)

Glad to hear your grandson is ok, Littleroses, and I'm sure they will sort his kidney problems out. My daughter had a kidney problem which required a small operation and all is well now.

These grandchildren, eh. I remember when our three children eventually left home and then found partners and married, I thought, well no more worries. How wrong was I!! And now it's the grandchildren I find myself worrying about too! Ha,ha…. they will take on their own burdens and sort through them and deal with them and grow inwardly. All good....

My grandson got home at 10.30pm last night, he is taking it easy today and back to school tomorrow. He will have to go back to the hospital  on Thursday for physio and to check out his kidney problem, fingers crossed it isn't serious. He mustn't do any contact sports for the time being which will upset him, being a good football player, a coach to the under tens, and not a bad cricketer.

I spoke to our grandson at lunchtime, I am concerned that he sounds very rough and still in a lot of pain. I can't see him being up to going to school tomorrow. :(

I hope he gets to rest up. I know it's early in the school year but sometimes it just has to be. Bless him.

He has a GCSE's coming up so can't afford to be off school for long, no doubt work will be sent home for him to do if need be.

This last Saturday's cryptic crossword is a bit more difficult! One of the clues was: Kit that's sillier yet working without batteries (5-9)
I googled it and the answer came up s SIEGEARTILLERY
Well, I can vaguely see the connection between batteries and artillery, but fail totally to see the SIEGE part. Can anyone explain?
And what has the word Kit got to do with anything?! (mutter mutter)

Kit here is Gear. The rest of Siege Artillery is an anagram of 'sillier yet'. Artillery is synonym for batteries, and the Siege part means that it happens from outside/without.

Many thanks. It was clear that it had to be an anagram, but I couldn't work out why the number of letters didn't work. In any case, I'd never have got the answer!

Sorry to hear about your grandson LR, hope he is feeling better & there's nothing seriously wrong.

We have just had an update from our daughter, who took 'E' to the outpatient's clinic today. All his blood tests were normal, which is good news.  :) He has a very bad muscle strain due to the whiplash injury sustained when playing football at the weekend. He will be in a lot of discomfort for quite a while poor lad, and will have to grin and bear it. As for his kidneys, it looks as if it was an effect of all the pain he was in. They will check 'E' out again next Wednesday, and he will have physio as well. In the meantime, pain or no pain, he must go back to school as he has his GCSE's looming.

Our vicar daughter has just phoned, a bit shaken. She had only been home about 5 minutes when a large tree belonging to the property across the road from her vicarage came down in the gale, blocking the road (a bus route) and her drive. Fortunately her car was not hit, however she is unable to get it out until the tree has been removed, goodness knows when that might be. :o

The Tech chap has been here today - to upgrade my SuperNova software (with  patch) and to fix the printer which seized up on Saturday when I had printed the quick crossword but not the crptic one! So now I have the cryptic. I've done a few clues, but when I get really stuck, I'll start a new Crossword Clues topic if that's okay with everyone...

In order to test the printer, tech chap printed today's cryptic ... ... I read through the clues and couldn't do any! Never mind, I'd rather work on the Saturday one.

I had a compliment from my grandson (12) today, he didn't think I looked too bad considering how very old I am. ;D

Our  middle daughter and family are off to the US for a four week holiday, sooner them than me! :o When booking their tickets they had to say if they were on any social media sites! No doubt Trump would turn them away if they said anything nasty about him! They will probably have to tattoo, 'I love Donald Trump', on their foreheads before being allowed to enter the country! ;D

This morning, whilst my husband is out at his monthly Probus meeting, a club for retired business and professional men, I decided to position some large, heavy stones in a place at the front of our property. With the aid of the wheelbarrow I managed to take them one at a time to their resting place, even though it was a struggle, I am pleased with result. However, my back, which I put out a few weeks ago is now beginning to twinge a bit. No doubt I will get a telling off for being so stupid when he arrives home. ::)

Thanks, so far it isn't too bad. My husband said I was an idiot, but likes what I have done.

My husband had an out patients appointment this morning at our local hospital. There was a bit of excitement when a patient arrived in chains, handcuffed to a prison officer with another one by his side.

Unfortunately things aren't brilliant where my husband is concerned. It looks as if he might possibly have another problem, which we hadn't envisaged that could be very serious indeed. :o
