Unfortunately things aren't brilliant where my husband is concerned. It looks as if he might possibly have another problem, which we hadn't envisaged that could be very serious indeed. :o

Oh dear. Hope it turns out to be a false alarm.

Thanks Rhi and Robbie. In himself he seems very well so when they said that they had picked up something possibly wrong with his pancreas it was a huge shock, hopefully it is a false alarm. I am much more concerned about it than my husband, being a born worrier, he doesn't seem to have a worry bone in his body.

I'll  economise as much as possible with words, but thought some might be interested in the following, which includes a laugh or two as well as a panic!

On Monday, my day started with a letter from Lymington Hospital saying that they have arranged an appointment for me on Wednesday 1st April, 2020!!! :D So I thought, if I'm alive then, I'll go to every appointment they care to give me!!
Then I visited Salisbury Hospital for a 24-hour heart monitor*. No problem - got there early and had a sandwich and a cup of tea. The technician said to pull up T-shirt, which I did - and out fell my vest!! I'd worn it on Sunday when out walking, took both of together, put them on chair, put on shirt Monday, completely forgetting about vest ... which could have fallen out any time since I dressed!! That really made me laugh!!
taxi to station, was guided to train, it started ... and I realised I did not have my purse. PANIC!** I phoned Assisted travel and they phoned Salisbury station. When I got to Southampton, )having by then realised that I have a key safe and knowing there was only cash and my key in purse - no cards), the staff there communicated with Salisbury and told me about procedures for lost property. I continued my journey home. Taxi from station to home.

As we turned into the Close where I live, the driver noticed a car outside my house. It was the taxi driver from Salisbury who had found my purse and driven all the way to New Milton to return it to me.

That was so extremely kind, wasn't it? He wouldn't take any money. I asked how he knew where I lived.
He knew myy name - the hospital had called for a taxi for me - and I had said I was going back to NM. He rang the hospital, but of course they cannot give out personal info, so - and this is a clever thing - he googled me!!!!!
Well, all turned out well; and on Tuesday I made sure I used that Taxi Company for the five times I needed a taxi. The first one was the same driver, so I was able to give him an extra large tip.

*I was taken to Salisbury A&E on the night of the World Cup final, because Southampton weretoo busy, so I thought it was only fair to do what they asked. In any case, one of my sons lives in Salisbury.
** I don't know how that will have affected the heart monitor!!

I hope NS is ok I note he hasn't posted for six days, even though he has looked in on the forum, which is very unusual for him.

Good for him, I like people who tell it like it is. At least you know where you are with them.

Hi Robbie,

I always thoroughly wash my potatoes and scrub them.  Then I boil them in a large pan for about 30-40 minutes then I bake them in the oven. The skin splits whilst cooking and leaves a fluffy potatoe inside and the skin is just right to eat with it. Whatever filling we choose the whole thing is scummy.

Bless them. How lovely to get married at Christmas! Mine married as early as possible in the new year (59 years next month - I think, I'm not good with dates), they tell me it was still very festive. Can't beat Christmas though.

You're still here Susan!
My grandparents Queenie and  Jack were married on Christmas day. I don't know anyone today married on that day.
Times have changed and for the good I believe.

Today for the very first time I saw a woman doing a bin round, she was driving the bin lorry, and getting out to help her male colleagues. Has anyone else seen a woman doing this job?

Quite a few, but then it's a job that I know quite a few people in.

He had an argument with a journalist and said if you can't handle media scrutiny, go and be a dustman.

And just when I thought I couldn't get anymore stupid than I am, I wasn't paying attention when I had a sharp knife in my hand at lunchtime. I manage to slice my chin, although it is a very tiny cut I have been bleeding like a stuck pig! It seems to have eased off a bit now. I have applied a huge plaster to the cut which has improved my looks no end! I shall take it easy for the rest of the day, I have seen enough of A&E to last me a lifetime having spent 14 hours in there over the weekend when my husband had a problem.

Has anyone ever heard of "kek" as an alternative to "lol"? I hadn't until a few minutes ago, but according to a thread on the book of faces, it's common in online gaming circles. Apparently, there were a lot of Koreans involved when it got going, and the Korean convention for representing laughter in print is "kekeke", rather than the English "hahaha". You learn summat new every day.

Apparently Dr Martens are selling well.

Two of my daughters are great fans of those boots. Our vicar daughter finds them particularly useful when presiding over a burial in bad weather. I have never owned a pair, I have weird feet and would probably not find them comfortable.

Do other forum members own a pair?

Never owned doc martins. What with my shaved head people might get the wrong impression, not that I ever liked to look of them too much anyway.
