When you say men is this just a lazy sexist assumption based on your experience with one man, your husband, or do you have many men you put duvet covers on with?

My three brothers-in-law, all highly intelligent men, are incapable of putting on a duvet cover, so are the husbands of many of the women with whom I am acquainted. I didn't say ALL men are useless at this task, no doubt you have no problem putting one on.

Your husband is used to having to do stuff but he will learn and in the end, when you are better, will instruct you about his system as if he's invented it! People do things they thought they never would when needs must. Give him encouragement!  In many years gone by men behaved as if they were totally incapable but many weren't, they just had to like it, be willing  and learned.  Some ended up being really good!

I have been trying to teach him to do it for nearly 50 years, and it still hasn't sunk in. ::) How on earth can putting on a duvet covet be harder than putting together flat pack furniture, or doing complicated graphs on the computer, with which he has no problem with at all, in spite of having only half a functioning brain?

Putting clean duvet cover on is fiddly but, honestly, it isn't difficult. duvet cover is much same size as duvet, put cover on top of duvet, show the opening and anyone can work out how to do it. Your husband is trying it on.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Why do so many women drivers appear to have so much difficulty understanding the highway code. It drives me nuts. I've tried explaining it to many of them (I used to be a driving instructor) but they just don't get it.

(I made the bit up about me being a driving instructor - in fact I made the whole thing up just to show how easy it is to make stupid sexist remarks, but I wasn't talking about all women Floo I'm sure you are a really good driver)

I have been able to drive since I was 12, and so far, touching a forest full of wood, I haven't had an accident, parking or speeding fine, the latter admittedly being more luck than judgement in my younger days. :-[ As for the highway code, I probably wouldn't pass the written test learner drivers have to take these days. I can't map read, and only know which is left and right by looking at my hands! ::) I don't drive on motorways anymore, I can't drive in poor light conditions, as my night vision isn't good. I have insisted my girls tell me the second they feel I am no longer fit to drive and I will give up immediately.

I think TV was having a dig at your sexist comment about men and duvet-covers.

I have just had an e-mail from my baby sister bemoaning the fact that their chimney sweep arrived this morning. The weather is very windy in my home island today, so there was quite a lot of mess. As a young kid I remember excitedly running outside to watch for the sweep's brush popping out through the chimney. I have no recollection of when I last saw a sweep in action, we never required one for any of the many homes we have owned during our married life. Have other posters seen chimney sweep recently?

I watched Mary Poppins several weeks ago.
Does that count?

BONKERS!!!!!!

This guy feels discriminated against as he is not permitted to change the age on his birth certificate to 20 years younger than his 69 years, to enhance his dating prospects.   ::)

Another weekend without  fixing of SuperNova problems. For instance, the voice is echoing the characters I am typing, but will not read the line. If the Tech Team cannot do a remote control on Monday, which will be nearly two weeks since problems began,I shall be really fed up.

My arm is on the mend, I managed to drive the car around the block a few minutes ago. I wouldn't wish to drive it any further at present, but in a week or two I might be able to stop incommoding our eldest when we need to go somewhere. :)

That is good news - do you have some physio exercises to do?

No doubt I will be given some next week when I attend the fracture clinic. However, my daughter did point out to me that I shouldn't have attempted to drive until I had the say so from the clinic, if I had an accident, even if it wasn't my fault, the insurance company could use my broken arm as an excuse not to pay out!
