I have a mobile phone, of course - I think it would be silly not to have one - but only use it to phone for a taxi when I'm outand, very occasionally for some other reason.

This afternoon, the Electric Company have fitted one of those smart meters  - at their expense and for their benefit! It won't make any difference to me. It has to be done before British Gas can fit their smart meter.

I was, however, most impressed to find that the Engineer was a young woman, so of course I congratulated her on her achievement.

I had never heard of this weird phenomenon of snow rollers before now!

OM actual G! I've just discovered that I share my birthday with Boris! The horror!
(Also Aung San Suu Kyi, Salman Rushdie, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, and the delectable Helen Geoge, who plays Trixie, the glamour-girl out of off of 'Call the Midwife'.)

Didn't know you were as young as Helen George. The others all look old for their years. I'm sure you look young and blonde and sweet like Helen.

I just googled famous people born on April 4th 1960 (my birthday), and don't recognise any of them! Maybe I'll be the first really famous person by the time I die - famous for what I wonder?

I see Paul McCartney has been awarded a gold Blue Peter badge. Our Down's Syndrome son (nearly 34) was awarded three ordinary BP badges when he was young. Our lad is also featured in the Millennium addition of the Blue Peter annual. Sorry for boasting, but I am very proud of our lad, in spite of having quite severe learning difficulties he is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. We are so fortunate that we were chosen as his adopted parents, he brightens the darkest day. :) :) :)

My sister's birthday is April 4th! Martin Luther King was murdered on your eighth, and her 14th, birthday.

Yes that's what I meant. My eldest getting married soon. Niece at end of May.
I've had a funny couple of days at home, will have to use up my annual leave before April but all I've wanted to do this week is cosy up on the sofa, read and watch bit of TV/Netflix.  Apart from posting on here a bit of course.

I see the children's programme, 'Crackerjack', is coming back again. I remember watching it was a child when the late Eamonn Andrews was the presenter.

My husband is moaning that it is chilly, although I don't think it is.

Chilli, boiled rice and pitta bread aren't to our taste.

I think that was meant to be a joke, LR: think of 'chilli con carne'. Now it's been mentioned I fancy it despite being roughly 3.30am. I got up for glass of water but now want chilli and rice! Can't see myself cooking it at this hour though, tired and going back to bed. Lasagne tonight with chips and salad.  How boring am I talking about food at this hour!  Cornflakes maybe?

Washing machine packed up a day or so ago, new one arriving Friday. I have a few things soaking in buckets/bowls - white/light/dark. It can wait 'til Friday.

Bless you, I'm sure you did. I don't always get my own jokes never mind other people's! I had a crusty cheese roll not long ago - (back to food again). Wish I hadn't bothered, I've taken a green smoothie back to office & Njoying that.

Saw Breast Cancer Clinic Surgeon this morning - she has decided she will remove the lump under a local anaesthetic and that will be in March! The risk is higher of course because of all the blood thinners I have to take to keep my heart working, but I have every confidence in them all ... and in my tendency to bounce back!

Know what you mean about the blood thinners Susan. I'm still taking them after my  new hip op(not a bad spelling of the dance!) I can't wait to get rid of the white stockings as well. Hope your op goes ok, I'm sure it will. :)

Phone call from Surgeon's secretary this morning - op on 28th March in the afternoon; day surgery; so I'll probably book a couple of nights in the Residential Care home down the road which keeps rooms for just that sort of occasion. I stayed there one night last year when I was not wel and it saves my son  (s) having to think of coming to stay with me.
