I doubt that many people doing it are doing it out of much other than ignorance. Sad all round.

Not only does it rot the kid's teeth, the sugar they imbibe contributes to them being overweight. There seems to be so many obese children around these days. :o

This article made me so angry, how can some  parents be so stupid as to put fizzy drinks and milkshakes in babies feeding bottles? No wonder so many children have many of their teeth extracted at a young age.

Our grandchildren only drank milk and water when young. Our eldest grandson who is 17 still does, he doesn't enjoy tea of coffee. I have never seen any of the others imbibing fizzy drinks, come to think of it.
you seem to be confusing 'fizzy' with sugary . There is an important difference in this context .

Most fizzy drinks contain sugar, which is what the link I gave was referring!

Skinny dipping in the North Sea for charity. I am glad I was not there to witness it, let alone take part. I prefer the human body covered up, especially mine. :o

I would happily given the right weather be naked most of the time. The North Sea is never the right weather

I agree, LR. To do such a thing to babies is completely daft, and I bet there's some laziness involved in somecases.

So was on a course today and something happened that made me feel really old. For a variety of reasons the presenter mentioned that he was really looking forward to 1 film next year. The update of Top Gun.

2 people in the room had never heard of it never mind watched it!

One of them after we discussed it and when it was released said ' I don't like black and white films'

I am now watching Top Gun

I'm currently parked in the viewing area of an RAF base waiting for night flying sorties of the Typhoons
Clear sky and no wind conditions , might get some decent afterburner snaps

Youngest rolled over for the first time last night - she's a little behind as she spent a few months with a hip-harness on, but I'm sure she'll be crawling soon!!!

Good news: be warned though with regard to female children, since crawling is just the start of it - in time they grow into women, they start to tell you where you are going wrong (pretty much from as soon as they start to talk), and along the way they will spend most of your money.  :)

In the eyes of my eldest girl (35) I can't do a thing wrong ,
In the eyes of my youngest girl (23) I can't do anything right 😤

In the eyes of my Ex I was a cheque book ! 😳

Well, we survived the older pair, he's 22 now and she turns 20 later this year, but I guess you never know when one of them's going to turn on you!!!

Well apart from saving up to send their old mum on a one way trip to Mars when she gets more senile than she is now, ;D I can honestly say our girls are wonderful and very caring. :)

We had our flu jabs earlier this morning, our surgery has two Saturdays in autumn dedicated to that purpose. Have other posters had theirs yet?

This morning I went to the DT  crosswords page, but found I was logged out. this has not happened before because the tech chap set it up for me and the staff at DT were very helpful. I tried to log in but it said e-mail or password was wrong. My next-door neighbour very kindly came in and managed to get to the point where I could print off the cryptic one.

Odd fact, that had never occurred to me before: "like" has subtly changed its meaning, or at any rate its usage. It used to be synonymous with "please", so Shakespeare always says "it likes me", e.g. in 'King Lear, "his countenance likes me not", but now it is synonymous with "enjoy", so we say "I like it".

It also features as a button in some social media sites where people 'like' something and click a button accordingly - I confess I don't use these sites but presumably it indicates approval. I've also seen recent references to 'woke' that have nothing to do with sleep, but I haven't caught up with this new usage yet.

I have just looked 'woke' up.

Woke means being conscious of racial discrimination in society and other forms of oppression and injustice.

Ah - so it is a synonym for 'awareness': I wonder what was wrong with 'aware(ness)'.
