I have developed a new style of makeup. I placed dinosaur stickers on my visage, and sent a photo to my sisters and kids. I am awaiting the knock on the door and being carted off by men in white coats. ;D ;D ;D

I was looking up synonyms for 'problem' and cursoring down listening, when I heard the word 'climactic' used in a sample sentence when the word should obviously have been 'climatic '! I would have copied the link, but I changed the window by mistake and lost it.

Synthetic Dave reads everything exactly as spelt, so I notice spelling errors easily.

My late wife's talking computer did that as well, always pronouncing the end of urls as "dot co dot uck". You wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to programme it to recogniise urls, and pronounce them "dot co dot you kay".

Synthetic Dave does in fact say U, K, but if there is a vowel in an acronym, it tries to make it a word, so I have to go back and read letter by letter. Mind  you, that often leaves me just as puzzled as before!!

Coming from Glasgow is very wise, if it's like what I've read.

If anyone fancies reading about 3300 words of psychobabble
, I can point them in the direction of an article on the GH forum. The Author of the Month for December is:

Maria Papaspyrou, author of Femtheogenic Consciousness:
One of the things about Synthetic Dave is that I can just listen and let this type of  incomprehensible rubbish flow past me. Actually trying to read it would be such an impossible thing to do - my brain would not let me do it! In my opinion, it is an insult to intelligence.

I did not comment directly, but picked out a few ridiculous comments about death and started a small topic on that.  Well, it's cold outside and although it's sunny, it's not a day for walking - sun too low for a start - and I'm at a bit of a loose end today  so that occupied a bit of time!

I have a new braille book - Postcards from Greece, by Victoria Hislop and it has started well, so I'll read some more of that this afternoon.

That would depend on what you read about Glasgow.

I've just had a thought Rangers and Celtic, one of the girls has only just partnered up with my lad in Greece, hope they're both on the same side, even more worrying?

Looks like it's too late to complain about it now L R, don't be too hard on yourself, we all have our crosses to bear.

So do I like the Scots people L R, but even so that doesn't stop us giving them a hard time.

At about 10:50 this morning, I walked down to town, wearing new trainers to test them for comfort (result - very good) and called into Morrison's for some chilled soup. Tried to phone for a taxi with mobile phone, but it just beeped and screen went black. Asked another customer to see if battery okay - answer, yes. So I walked home! Well, that was a much better thing to do from the health point of view! Phoned Tesco phone dept, and apparently there's something about a battery-saving thing if you don't use the phone for more than a certain number of weeks.

Some of us oldies do not feel the need to be using our mobile phones all the time!! :) However, I will try and remember to use it more often to make sure it is always working when a request for a taxi is needed.

I have to remember to make a call from time to time with my mobile just to keep it alive. As I have said before, I only carry it with me when I am driving, it is always switched off.

Not everything is logical LR, Mr Spock woudn't understand either.
I like Scotland too (havent been for yonks), like you I have Scottish rellies; my brother in law and niece's husband are from Edinburgh. I'm going next year and really looking forward to it. Bro in law's lovely older sister is having a 65th birthday bash, she's been very unwell and now she has recovered she wants to splash out (or her children do).

Be warned if you go in for some lite banter with most Scots, get ready to make a swift exit whilst licking your wounds.

They're easier to understand for me when the nearer it is to Edinburgh they come from, they had two Glaswegians on pointless last week my wife and I we genuinely couldn't understand them, they seemed to be O K.

We were awoken by the sound of a car alarm at about 1.30am, I went outside  to check if the noise was coming from my car, which it wasn't thank goodness. I have no idea where the sound was coming from. It went on for about two hours, I had to put my earplugs in to deaden the noise. :o

There seems little point in car alarms, they go off for hours and no police drive up to see if anyone is actually suspicious. An alarm could frighten off a car thief but surely an experienced car thief would know how to disable it, get in the car and drive off quickly? Agree the sound is very annoying.

I suspect it was probably a faulty alarm, I have never heard a car alarm go off in our neighbourhood before, and it is very rare to hear a house alarm go off either.

Can you bake sweet potatoes in their jackets, same as proper spuds? I hope so, because I put one in the oven about 15 minutes ago. I'm going to have it with mushroom and tommy toe sauce. I'll have to use the medim-sized saucepan; ther won't be mushroom in the small one.
