Our youngest grandchild is 12 today, it doesn't seem five minutes since she was born, the years go by so quickly.

Ain't that all too true!

And they accelerate after your fiftieth birthday!

Tell me about it! You only have to blink and another week has gone by. :(

I do wonder if in addition to the well known idea that time speeds up with age whether social and technology changes may add to that perception.

An interesting suggestion, but I am not quite sure how it would do that? I remember my maternal grandmother, who died in 1980, complaining about how fast the years were flying by as she got older.

Yes, as I said it's a well known idea that people feel time moves faster as they get older.

My pondering is that given social and techology change, we are bombarded with and consume information at a different rate than previously.

I tend to ignore as much of it as possible. I rarely use my mobile phone, preferring our landline. My computer goes off before 7pm and is not switched on again until 8am.

This may help:

Now that would drive me bonkers I like radio controlled clocks and watches so I know the time to the nearest second, VERY SAD! ::) Maybe NS is right about technology making the time seem to go faster.

I suspect that one's perception of time is governed by one's cumulative experience of time passing. At the age of 5 a year is 20% of your total life experience, at the age of 50 it is 2%.

Do student rag weeks still take place? I haven't seen anyone selling a rag mag for decades. I used to have a collection of them but they disappeared log ago.

I have been informed that someone in a very senior position has seen some of my artwork and would like me to create a piece for them. I will see what I can come up with.

My husband's meds etc were supposed to be ready for collection today. I checked on-line to see what time the pharmacy was open this afternoon, I was surprised to see it said it was now only open on Mondays and Tuesdays, which seemed a bit odd.  I thought I would phone just to check, I got straight through to the receptionist who couldn't understand why that misinformation was on-line. She said that must account for them having so few people into today. It was great, I didn't need to queue, I walked straight in and collected the items. The receptionist said they were going to contact head office to find out what was going on. I told her not to bother as it suited me nicely, JOKE!  ;D

Amusing incident just now: I logged on, and the Google home page came up, as usual. I must have passed my cursor over the google speech-recognition logo, which I've never used before, because suddenly and unexpectedly up came a big red microphone symbol, and the words "Speak now". Surprised and slightly annoyed, I said "What the fuck?", and immediately a link to a YouTube video whose title included those words came up!

I have recently, rather late in life, discovered how to make roast potatoes that are really crisp on the outside. After parboiling them and draining them in a sieve, shake them up and down and round and round for a minute or so in the sieve. This fluffs them up on the outside, providing extra surface to get crisp.

If you add a little flour that works well too.

The first thing I see on my computer this morning is an e-mail fom a Mr Charles de vanh Coch who, very generously, has decided to give his wealth away and all I have to do is to click on the link to his "foundation" to cnfirm my e-mail address!!! Anyone else received one of these yet? You see, apparently my e-mail address has been chosen at random!

ETA I googled 'new scam - coch foundation' and the first link that came up was this
https://www.charleskochfoundation.org/privacy-statement/
and it raises questions as it appears to be a grant giving organisation.

He's one of the notorious Koch brothers, who support eye-wateringly-right-wing politics, and oppose environmetal regulations. Absolute arsehole.

Thank you - I'm not surprised! Is the grant-giving Foundation genuine?

The foundation appears so, but your email may be scam, pretending to be from the foundation. Some of them are very realistic. I once got a scam email supposedly from NatWest bank, about my account. I might have been fooled, were it not that I have never had a NatWest account.

A woman in the Netherlands has been told by the court to remove photos of her grandchildren from social media sites. She put them there without the parent's permission.

Many years ago as an excited granny I put some photos of my grandson on a forum, I was told off very severely for doing so. :-[ It was a daft thing to do as sick perverts can use them for their own evil purposes. >:(
