If people are wondering why SteveH hasn't posted since June 1st, I have heard that his computer has packed up and he can't get it fixed at present.
Thanks LR, we had wondered and indeed sent him a couple of emails, which he obviously would note receive, to check on him.

We have an ongoing worry about Dicky Underpants who hasn't been logged on since March 18th. Again we have tried sending emails as well as IMs but so far nothing.

I find it interesting to look at houses, which are for sale in places in which we have lived over the years.  I was looking at some in the parish in which I used to live as a child in Guernsey. I came across the manor house originally belonging to my great aunt, which is on the market for a few million. She used to live in a small wing of the house leaving her 'son' and his wife to live in the rest. I have put the word 'son' in inverted commas as in reality she was actually his aunt. Her sister died in childbirth and she was forced to marry her sister's husband, a horrible man, so she could bring up the baby boy!  >:( She never had children of her own. My great aunt outlived them all, eventually dying at the age of 104 in the early 90s.

My husband went out for a walk before lunch and about 30 minutes later someone came to tell me he had fallen over and would I come and collect him. He looks a right mess, a cut over his left eye, one on his upper lip and cuts on both hands. He was able to get into the car fortunately, I took him home and patched him up. This is his fourth or fifth fall in the last two or three months. I have told him he has to be more careful, especially as his vision problems are getting worse. He tells me I am fussing about nothing!  :o

My son (from Salisbury) arrived about 12:30 and stayed about an hour and a half. He brought me some items of shopping and some cash, plus a cheese and tomato sandwich made with a loaf of bread he made yesterday! Plus a punnet of fresh stoned dates from Waitrose so that was realy nice. I haven't seen him for three months. And it's a lovely day, and I did 24 laps of my walking too. All in all - a good day.

Mind you, the Saturday cryptic crossword seems to be another by the clever clogs so I'm going to have to do a bit of googling to get anywhere!

It is our eldest girl's 50th birthday today, which makes my husband and I feel very old indeed. It is also my husband's birthday, he is 73. We were sorry we couldn't celebrate her birthday in style with her sisters, but they are not permitted over the border into Wales. Our daughter came for lunch, she sat outside our sunroom door to socially distance as we sat inside. She erected a tarpaulin because it had been raining. We had a pleasant time, the rain held off until she was just about to leave. It is a birthday we won't forget in a hurry.

Indeed, and thanks for passing on the info, but I'm back now, as I'm sure you're all delighted to hear, and re-learning the ins and outs of Windows computers, after years of using Chromeboks. Nice big screen - that's one advantage.

Feeling foolish as I discovered yesterday my email decided to file all notifications from here in the spam folder. I've missed out on quite a bit.   :(

OW! I have just been stung by a wasp. I was about to swat the thing, but it got its revenge in first! I am no stranger to wasp stings having had very many in my 70 years on this planet. I had multiple ones on my face about 30 years ago when disposing of a wasp's nest.

This morning, a member of the Adult Social Services Sensory team came to the house and went with me along my main route to town to the Bank. I knew it would have been too stressful to try to do it on my own. I would have been able to do it, but it was far more sensible to have someone with me. He is coming here again on the next two Thursdays, so I'll make sure I go the alternative route and then I hope I'll be more or less back to normal. I knew the amount of peripheral vision had lessened a bit and yes, it was noticeable, but I shall just need to be sensible and practise.

LR, I hope you're okay.  SD, that seems like a great service.  Don't think we have anything like that on this side of the pond.

Just came in from out back.  The wrens have been in a frenzy all morning.  When I finally went out to see why, a fledgling (still on the small side) red-shouldered hawk flew from the fence to the trees in the berm.  >:(

Just got a £160 bonus in my pay, so I splashed out on loads of strong, dark pipe tobacco to while away the lockdown time with.

Before we work on Artificial Intelligence shouldn't we address the problem of natural stupidity.

When shopping this morning I used a reusable face mask I had recently purchased, rather than the one I had made out of one of my husband's hankies. I discovered it kept steaming up my spectacles, which was most irritating! Has anyone else had this problem when using a mask?

Oh yes. A minor irritation though, in the grand scheme of things.

Yes, it is annoying. Some Youtubers offer different solutions, but I haven't tried any yet.

I haven't found that specifically, but I hate the bloody things - I did try the disposable ones on offer at work a few times, but chucked them away after an hour or less each time, because they get hot and humid inside. Maybe fancier ones would not be so bad.

Maybe if you shaved off your beard they might be less uncomfortable. My nephew is a dentist in England, when the dentists in his practice when back to work the males who had beards were required to shave them off, they made their masks less effective.

100% cotton is best.  At first, I could barely stand wearing them.  But, slowly, I'm getting used to them.  Like LR says, those in the medical field assure us you do get used to wearing one.  I'm looking forward to the day when I forget I have it on!
