100% cotton is best.  At first, I could barely stand wearing them.  But, slowly, I'm getting used to them.  Like LR says, those in the medical field assure us you do get used to wearing one.  I'm looking forward to the day when I forget I have it on!
I am using linen ones and it's good if I get the mask pinned down by wire in my glasses, and I breathe through my nose.

I've got some that tie behind your head now - because I have to wear hearing aids all the time (just the two mind) I had a couple of near disasters with the 'elastic behind the ears' variety where several times on removal of the mask one of my hearing aids 'pinged out' in the car park, and on one occasion it came close to being flattened by car.

The alternative was to not wear hearing aids when shopping, but that means I can't use my phone to get instructions from a higher authority for when confusion sets in.

My husband had the same. I'm making ours, and I was able to make his with stretchable fabric top and bottom to go around his head.

Can you describe in more detail what you mean by "pinned down by wire in my glasses?" I'll look into linen versus cotton.  Anything that will be more comfortable.

Giving a friend a haircut tomorrow morning.  Not because I'm skilled.  She's desperate.  And, she's a risk (works in a hospital.)  We've decided for the morning so we can be outside, in the sun, in this Florida heat.  But, COVID does hate the heat and sun. We're still both wearing masks just to be safe.

Just been to a pub, for the first time since lockdown began: 'The Full House', my local 'spoons. Had two pints of beer and one of cider, and chicken and rib combo for lunch. Saw some of the other regulars, including "superwoman", a blonde bombshell of about 30 (stone, that is; she's probably pushing 40 in years). The restrictions were a bloody nuisance, but I accept that they are necessary until this sodding disease is defeated.

Was everyone wearing a mask?  Never wanting to mask shame, but damnit, Steve.  This is getting serious.

I don't think anyone was! Mind you, I live in an area - Hertfordshire and surrounding counties - that has got off pretty lightly with Covid-19.

This was clearly the case in Florida just three months ago.  I could so understand the complaints that we were shutting down when there were hardly any cases.  And, now, here we are.  It's all around us.  Hopefully, you got away with it for now, Steve.  But, damnit, if you aren't careful, even people in their 40s are dying who were very healthy and fit.  (Now, in Florida, the average age in the hospital has gone way down. 35! That likely has to do with all the rest of us who are most vulnerable being super careful--which you are not being!)

In order to attract some birds into my garden, which is quite small and on a housing estate, I hung a wire tube filled with fat balls from a tree. Within a few days it had had the desired effect. It has been visited by sparrows, thrushes and blackbirds among others.

My garden is also visited by two large pigeons. The pigeons, however, never feed directly from the balls. They stay on the ground and appear to be eating crumbs which have fallen to the ground as a result of the other birds' activities.

It occurred to me that the pigeons may be too large and too heavy to be able to use the tube and thus rely on the other birds to enable them to feed.

Avian opportunism (or even division of labour)? Has anyone else observed this kind of behaviour?

The pigeons and magpies rely on the other smaller birds to drop bits onto the ground from the fat ball container we have hanging on our bird table.

Annoying! Just woke up three hours late for work. Still, not going to rush. Making bacon and eggs before I leave home.

Work in a warehouse. Maybe four or five times late a year. I'll do the time back or just take it unpaid. No sweat. My boss is pretty relaxed. Thought I'd close my eyes for ten minutes when my alarm went off. Three hours later I woke up.

You are fortunate to have an employer who allows you to turn up late for work without good reason. Good job you are not working for me.

Everyone's late sometimes. A few times a year is nothing. It's normal. Eveeyone's a bit tired sometimes. Anyway, I hate work. If I didn't need money I wouldn't work. Bloody good at my job though.

Who in their right mind would go to work if they didn't need the dough?

Many people enjoy their jobs. My husband was an academic before his brain haemorrhage, he loved his work so much he even took it on holiday with him, the only day he didn't do any work at all was on Christmas day.

Fair enough. We're all different. I suppose it's different for those who feel they have a calling to a specific line of work. Me? I never knew what I wanted to do. Ended up having to do jobs I hate all my life. Hope to have enough money one day so that I don't have to anymore. There's a million things I'd rather do.

I think I might give up buying train tickets for my work jouneys. No one bothers to check them (or rather they only very rarely check them). If I buy a ticket I want someone to check it. Very annoying. No point buying the damn thing otherwise.

Dead serious. The ticket's gone to waste if no one checks it and I've thrown money down the khazi.

So are you saying you will steal a ride on a train? If that is so, it is illegal, wrong and immoral. I thought you were supposed to be religious.
