This sums up my year pretty accurately:
Before we work on Artificial Intelligence shouldn't we address the problem of natural stupidity.

I just have to share this somewhere. Melanie Phillips well known Journo has coined this sentence and I'm just loving it:

"Ubiquity of body art is born out of an existential crisis of humanity in the post religious world."

Bless her. Because there is nothing more to worry about than tattoos.

Oh and Mel I don't think between 20 - 30% of people having tattoos counts as ubiquitous.

Even if there were, any attempt to divorce tattoos from religion falls foul of a huge number of religions outside of Abrahamic ones...

Yes, it is interesting, isn't it. I wonder if the US can count it? After all, theirs is 2.22.22

The next one will be, what, a century away?!

I reckon it will be 08 02 2080

Must put that in diary and remember to do something special when it comes round - I'll be a sprightly 127!

Seems I was wrong - it's 03 02 2030.

There is a list of them here.

23.02.2032 is our next one.  For the US, it's 3.20.2023. We don't have one in common again till the next millenium.

ETA - I see Gordon has found an earlier one.

So I'm currently reading a series of detective books set in the midwest of the USA - Missouri to be precise. Anyhow, during this series, they keep referencing gas stations known as the "Kum and go". I found it difficult to take the books seriously for a while because (call me smutty) the gas station kept turning into a brothel in my mind. Anyway, I goggled it:

https://www.kumandgo.com/

They exist.

As I live and breathe someone thought this was a good name for a business.

Susie Dent's word of the day:

“Word of the day is ‘maw-worm’ (19th century): one who insists that they have done nothing wrong, despite evidence to the contrary.”

I have no idea who she has in mind.  ::)

The only member of the royal family that knows how to wave properly is wee Louis.

Wonderful moment earlier on the balcony when he pushed in front of her maj. the cameras jumped away and in the next shot he was seen back in line literally being held by the scruff of the neck by Mum.

P.S. Climate change doesn't exist for the royal family: how many guns salute?? Fly passes grand. Much as I love the Red Arrows (saw them in training some years ago in Weymouth) they leave behind a lot of chaos.

Ikeep meaning to do that - I've been entitled for a few years - although since I hardly ever use buses, there's not much point. Now, if old farts got a free rail pass, that'd be worth having.

I use my bus pass as a formal proof of identity document when I fly to the Channel Islands.
