I don't think anybody "put their heating on" in 1922. They had open coal fires.
I have a pet termite. His name is Clint. Clint eats wood.

Review the effects of high-intensity headlights on road safety.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/618353

Why this has only got 33 signatures beats me.

Probably because it's one bloke's bonnet-bee, and not important.

No, I cycle, but that's irrelevant.

As a cyclist, you ought to be concerned, as if a car is behind you and the driver is dazzled by an oncoming car headlight, he may not see you.

Some of you may know, that many years ago now, I worked in Poland for 8 months. Fascinating experience.

But, I was reminded today of something that still makes me smile, and that is the sign you saw hanging up everywhere which was this:

"Uwaga pies"

My basic grasp of Polish when I first got there told me that Uwaga was usually a warning, the literal translation is "Attention". So my mind was thinking "attention pies". Low flying sausage rolls, etc.

Of course, I soon found out that "pies" is the Polish word for dogs. Which makes a lot more sense as a warning.

Still, I never quite shook the feeling when I saw the sign that I should be on the look out for dangerous Melton Mowbray pork pies.

Just got my new passport. Picture makes me look way harder than I am. I believe they are going to making a new series of Rebus, the photo would be my audition for Big Ger Cafferty.

Just got my first state pension payment. It was over £11,000! Presumably, they only pay it once a year. I assumed it was once a week. I've just paid a few outstanding bills, and will treat myself in a modest sort of way.

It's normally paid every 4 weeks into your bank account. Have you worked past retirement age? If so maybe they pay out a bigger sum in those circumstances.

Never heard anyone get £11,000 in one go though.

I got a letter from them. For some reason, they dated it from January last year, so they had a year's worth of back-payment to pay me! I will be getting the normal pension every four weeks, as you say.

Just back from a few days in Bologna. Excellent city for walking and food. Some great churches packed with art, stories and bones.

I remember a notice in the toilet of a guest house I stayed in -
" Please don't put foreign bodies down the toilet".

Can you confirm that Spaghetti Bolognese is unknown there (at least as a local dish)?

See the menu below from the restaurant that was in the hotel for tagliatelle al ragu. They sell #notspaghettibolognese T shirts.
