Spud,

Quote
Burning a witch was part of the system put in place by God to ensure that the promise of a Saviour was fulfilled.

Fuck me.

Apart from the two above, words almost fail me. There really are people walking among us who believe this kind of crap in a basket. Where would you even begin to educate someone that lost to reason and decency?

Where though?

I await people who are theist and Christian telling Spud he is wrong. Otherwise they support killing 'witches'.  So on you go Christians, up to you!!!!

Well. That makes it ok then. Any hints as to what should be done with witches now?

Do you support Spud's statement that
"Burning a witch was part of the system put in place by God to ensure that the promise of a Saviour was fulfilled. " ?

I'm not going to take part in some ridiculous trial with you as some pocket Torquemada.
You are stupid to even suggest such a thing.  Potty!

As far as I know most witch burnings happened late 16th century first half of 17th century.

But that has nothing to do with the question. Do you agree with Spud or not?

What I know is that you don't respond to any "sort of thing", though you seem keen to demand answers from others.

It's a simple enough question though isn't it? Why not benefit us with a simple yes or no?

Again, having grown men, seriously ask whether one supports burning witches at half past ten in the 21st century
is Bizarro to say the least. Honouring it an actual answer is feeding the beast don't you think?

That wasn't the question though. Spud told us that burning witches when it did happen was "God's plan" or some such. I just asked whether you agree with him.

I still don't know the answer.

I'm not asking if you support the burning of witches now or in the past. In fact I'm fairly certain that you don't.
I was asking if you support Spud's statement regarding a 'plan'.
Either you do or you don't.

So I take it you think that Spud is a mad loon?
1: I don't read Spud as advocating witch burning.
2: I don't read Spud as saying burning witches as part and parcel of the New testament.
3: I believe Spud is talking about Old Testament accounts, in which case I think we are reading politico-religious works in which a group of people involved in whatever the Hebrew word we translate as witchcraft are seen as a national threat. The Isrealites had a particular view of what that was and how it was to be dealt with.
4: In terms of Gods Plan Christians have varied views on what that is. Is being a witch part of God's plan?
My own view is that evil is not part of God's plan and, as I've said, since man has followed in part evil paths and God's plan is to work with and around people, there are greater and lesser evil.

Was it wrong for Israel to execute witches?, was it right for the US to execute the Rosenburgs?, or for Bomber command to bomb the crap out of the Germans? What is the lesser of two evils? were the Tudors correct in executing Heretics? Was Stalin right to purge his military?

In terms of witch burning at the beginning of the modern age I'm informed that these were locally carried out....although today witch burning by the Parish Council is only the Stuff of Midsomer Murders.

But you still haven't answered the question about whether it was God's plan.

If you look at my posts I am Christian I believe all have fallen short. All are in some measure and at some times antichrist. Theologically speaking that ''antichrist'' is defined as evil. You are a theology student are you not you should know this stuff. Secondly I believe that religiously people should move from paganism to Christ.

Don't look at the Christian saying killing witches was fine, look over there, or over there, look lots of words and none of them about the Christian saying burning witches was God's plan, oops, well some but Stalin and cheese and Enery the Heighth and is that enough words for you to have forgotten the Christian saying 'witches', ignoring that they weren't any such thing, being murdered by Christians was all part of God's plan.

The suggestion that one's self and affilitions might not be going in the direction of Christ is often taken with offence.
