Dear ippy,

The Truth on you go then, let me read The Truth but I suspect it will only be Your Truth.

True and truth, two more small but very powerful words, unlike the word "encomiums"
I doubt I will ever have a use for the word "encomiums" but the word truth, well we all search for that.

Gonnagle.

Wouldn't ideas backed up by evidence tend to be more believable than those that are not; 'every time', I would have thought?

I take it you haven't bumped into Elvis then? He's still alive you know.

You seem to overlook the possibility that God does exist, that He made Himself known through Jesus, and that we can communicate with God through prayer.

He made Himself known through Jesus

Which hasn't been backed up by any verifiable evidence, ever.

Your brand of philosophical materialism has no evidence to back it up methodological materialism is not philosophical materialism and does not back it up.

You have never questioned that it has though. You have a duty to think critically and have failed that undertaking.

Eh?

Where's the evidence for philosophical materialism Ippy, and ''the truth'' that there is no God?

You know, over the months one or other atheist on here will say that there is no afte -life, and we should make the most of what time we have now.  Yet they spend so much of this precious time on forums such as this, debunking, denying, railing against religion!  Daft!  Strange!  Weird!  What's your excuse Ippy?  Just like thinking about fairy stories, and can't resist coming back, year in and year out?  Find a hobby old son: use your precious time on earth being a bit more, well, sensible!

Who are you to decide that the pastimes and pursuits of others are "Daft! Strange! Weird!"? Perhaps people enjoy doing what you think they shouldn't be doing according to you - a scenario which doesn't seem to have occurred to you.

Its not avoidance and answers your question.
You think it daft and strange but so what?.
Others don't and its their opinion that matters about what they spend their time doing.

You didn't make one. You expressed an opinion, which I countered in my previous post and which, true to form, you haven't the intellectual wherewithal to tackle.

There's no evidence that would or in fact does support your ideas about this god something or other you keep going on about, unfortunately for you, as I guess you would see it, the burden lays with your good self Alan and I don't for one minute think it's worth waiting for an answer that makes any sense.

In this post I make no apologies for directing it at you. Your comments about atheists enjoying discussions here is not acceptable, not to me anyway. From my personal point of view, I just don't know how I would occupy the time I spend on here (and a few others). If you can suggest a suitable alternative hobby, I would be grateful. Mind you, I'd still make time for forums.

It would suit believers if atheists kept quiet, wouldn't it? They could then expound their views of God/god/s, with zero evidence on which to base them, and avoid the fact that said God/god/s have not ever existed and will never do so.

I see you've entered the fray B A and it looks like you've got your Mr Nasty hat on.

I don't think any of the ones you refer to as atheists on the forum have said that there 's no such thing as an afterlife, I know I haven't.

It must be so annoying, frustrating even when you can't find any verifiable evidence that would prove for once and for all that there is an afterlife.

So what we keep repeating to you and unfortunately you're obviously unable to answer, where is that reiable, credible evidence that could or would support this heaven idea of yours?

You BA it seems to me can't get your head around the above without blowing a fuse, why's that?

It's a good job that most scientists set the evidence bar a little higher than you then.

I am very grateful for any atheists to enter into a discussion about God.  Al least it gives us an opportunity to help them to discover the truth.

Perhaps it's not the atheists you're trying to convince? ;)

No seriously, we need evidence and reason please Alan.  Just saying 'I exist therefore ....' isn't really going to cut it.
