Don't worry anti Christianity is still the malfunction of a screaming minority.....like yourself. Oh I am not talking of antichristianity as an idea but as a pathology caused by actual resentment of God himself . Not all non believers feel the need to hit out

Insulting me doesn't win the argument for you.

I equate a huge amount of suffering with certain Christian beliefs. That the stupid greed of people - by no means the preserve of non-believers- also causes suffering doesn't magically get Christianity off the hook.

For Vlad to call other people's suffering bullshit is characteristic of a certain kind of Christian view, which might be called contempt for other people.   I don't really understand how that has become a Christian manifestation, but it has, and on this forum, quite commonly.

You mistake Christianity for Christians.
And that then becomes the leitmotif for a certain misinformation I find in your posts.

I think you are mistaking science for a life stance or world view

If we have a life stance, or a world view, I don't see why we should not base it upon not just our accumulated collective knowledge, but also seek to incorporate the character and principles of methodical enquiry first established through scientific endeavours into our personal thinking.

Well, your posts are full of dishonesty and abuse of other people.   I'm baffled as to how you might claim that this is a Christian attitude.   But then the most abusive people here are Christians - again, that is puzzling, but fortunately, there are some Christians who are not like that.

The cast iron proofs you ask for do not exist in the context you demand.  All I can do is open the door a touch to allow you to accept the possibility that God could exist.
Possibility doesn't even enter into it. The possibility of what is it am I being asked to entertain? Nobody can admit the possibility of X unless they have at least some idea, however minimal, of what X is supposed to be.

Quote
Then if you can bring yourself to take a step of faith through this chink of light you will discover God as He really is.
I don't do faith.

And why do you think that you've got a handle on God "as he really is"? Do you not think that that comes across as ... well, rather presumptuous, arrogant even?

In any case all theisms say that, Alan. I call it the "I'm Spartacus" school of theism - "I know God as he really is" - "No, I do!" - "No you don't, I do!" And so on.

Pain, or damage, don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back. - Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

If you mean my refusal to subscribe to the good bloke hypothesis.Guilty as charged.

Where you bring that position into disrepute is trying to peddle the idea of fundamental niceness while maintaining a reprobate class namely th Christians who are genetically and generically bad. Your position is therefore simultaneously contradictory and hypocritical. I know I used to hold it.

What is the point of a religion if it doesn't make you a better person?  Do you subscribe to the 'once saved, always saved' garbage, which means once you do the business you are 'saved' for all eternity however bad you are?

I think the evidence shows I am the recipient of the most abuse on this board maybe Nick Marks receives more but that is nothing for his detractors to get smug about given the circumstances.

Have a think why, quite a long think why.

You just couldn't resist the claiming victimisation, could you?

Try learning the difference between gratuitous insult and having someone point out the facts.

But I think you'll agree that what you say still ends up as a faith position which finally negates the idea that things only have truth value if demonstrated methodologically.

I am the last person to claim victimisation choosing as I do to come into a den of swivel eyed and ravenous anti theists and their hangers on........on a daily basis(he said trying to humour the snarling denizens while he gingerly backs away)

You don't know if there is an up or down, you also can't be sure if your unpleasant attitude will have you joining people, like myself, who are supposedly going down!

Whatever.... But owing to my experience of God you still wouldn't find me saying He doesn't exist or that He is evil.
