When I read your post (a long way back) that "God" had told you he wanted you to come back to this forum to put us right ... I knew you were going to regret it!  ;)
How could I possibly regret doing God's will?

I would like to thank everyone who has made the effort to reply to my posts, and for contributing to the interesting, thoughtful and fruitful exchanges.

And do not think you are off the hook, Len.  I will be praying for you all.  Never underestimate the power of prayer!

I wish you well.

I do not think they have been fruitful, as you have learned nothing from your mistakes, even though they have been pointed out in some detail many times.

Given the valedictory tone of that last post, Alan, are we to take it that you're signing off and moving on?

Just out of interest, do you think you've learned anything at all from being here?

Oh, I'm sorry, your post sounded as if you were signing off and leaving us to it.  :)

That sounds sort of final to me ... has God told you to give us up?

If Alan is signing off maybe the deity has realised it has screwed up by asking Alan to try to convert us. His posts have been more off putting than anything else!

But he has put up a valiant fight, Roses! My hat is off to him.

Maybe it's a bit like the Terminator films: God's thinking, "Uh-oh - I really screwed up sending the Alan Burns T-800; I'd better try again with...

...the upgraded Alan Burns 2 T-1,000!

Take that suckers!"

Should be interesting...

Yeah - God's installed the latest Z-63 logic chip, removed the Assertion engine and (I hear) added a flux capacitor for good measure.

I just need a break.
I find it rewarding, but mentally exhausting.
I feel that I have learnt a lot from the inspired answers God has given me (but I suspect some of you will not agree on the source of the inspiration).

Did you mean disbelief?

No doubt you do feel that you've learned a lot from "God", but the question rather was whether you've learned anything from the people who've responded to you here. You've made and repeated a string of mistakes and had them pointed out and corrected - have you taken that on board, and do you now feel better equipped to argue your position because you can avoid them in future?

Disbelief, yes.

On the internet people don't tend to put forward logical and reasoned responses.

Disbelief usually consists of insulting the believer.

Rose,

Why do you think that? "Disbelief" (or rather non-belief) is usually expressed in my experience as the finding that there's no coherent or cogent reason to believe, generally by pointing out the flaws in the thinking of those who attempt to argue for an objectively true deity. The exchanges here with AB for example follow that pattern.

Alan doesn't have the same premises to reach your conclusion.

If you followed his, you would understand why Alan sees his belief as logical

But he does not use logic, that is rather the point.
If he used logic, then we could all follow the path to his conclusion.

Only if you accepted his premises.

Which a lot of you don't.

A logical argument doesn't mean there is only one right answer

Disbelief is rarely expressed with reasoned logical argument

How can it be otherwise? There are no logical arguments for the non-existence of anything except the lack of evidence for them.

What is not logical is believing something for which there is no testable evidence.
