Why is existence dependent upon a creator of the conscious personalistic entity you purport to believe in?

Who are we to cast judgement on our creator?
Any reason why not?

Would you rather have had no existence?
Yes. It would have been far more peaceful.

Pain, or damage, don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back. - Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

You should know that the bible tells us that we need faith to allow God to intervene.  Jesus said that he could work no miracles in one place because the people lacked faith.  This implies that Jesus wanted to work miracles, but people's lack of faith prevented Him.

His miracle working was a bit pants then, wasn't it? Thank goodness doctors just need medical science.

I am.

If I were to stand by and watch people die of disease and disaster when I could have prevented it then I would be guilty.

The last line could equally be used by slave owners to their slaves.

Actually this idea of 'would you rather have had no existence' is often trotted out by abusive parents to justify their behaviour - 'without us you wouldn't exist'.

I'm sorry bit this really is nasty stuff.

Why don't you grow a pair, get off your knees and have some self respect!

Also often used by omnivores against vegetarians - "better to exist and be tortured, tormented and abused and killed horribly than not exist at all."

New one on me, but whatever.

So? You really aren't grasping this, are you?

I'm with Stephen. I'll also add though that you could not only grow a pair but lose some of the smug gittery along the way.

I have respect for myself and God

That's debatable.

But whatever, I'm not seeing too much of it for others. Least of all non- Christians.

Doesn't sound like it to me. anyway what about a proper answer to my previous message about me being guilty if I just stood by.

I think you have limited comprehension of English and no sense of irony.

I think you have lost it.

The best thing about an afterlife being highly unlikely is that peaceful oblivion is infinitely preferable to an eternity spent in the company of your ilk and your God.

It depersonalises people when they are described as an " ilk" .

would it be so difficult just to accept Alan believes in something different?

It doesn't matter what someone believes or doesn't believe, someone somewhere always thinks they have it wrong and won't end up in heaven.

I don't think Alan has been talking about where you are going after death has he?
