The bible tells us that we are made in God's image. Which I would assume infers that God has given us the power to interact, rather than just react with the events in this universe.
Of course we interact with events - makes no difference to the logic, though.
Look - we have to decide things
somehow and if it's a
free choice it
should be determined by who we are as individuals. There simply aren't any another other inputs to the process of making us than our initial state and subsequent experience.
Of course our subsequent experience is also determined by our previous decisions (interaction) but that is a detail - because however far we go back this god would have controlled everything up to that point and hence our decisions at every stage.
This is just logic - you can't just magic a decision into existence from nothing (unless there is a source of true randomness involved, in which case it certainly isn't our individual will).
