I would say that our spiritual awareness and capacity to believe in God are sufficient evidence to show that we are not here by accident, but are what God intended us to be.

Then I'm not, for the sake or argument, 'what God intended' so you must be wrong (else 'God' is less than efficient).

Then, again, you would say something that's entirely circular in its reasoning.

Does the hopelessness of your thinking not trouble you at all?

Alan

This is just a jumble of fallacies: there seems little point in listing them since you seem immune to reason when it comes to your 'God'.

How do you explain that some of us lack 'the capacity to believe in God'. That some of us clearly don't would seem to contradict your implication that humans have this capacity - this one certainly doesn't!
All intelligent humans have the capacity to believe in God.  Whether they invoke this ability would appear to be a personal choice.

Anyways, as always you have your terms backwards - the "monumental optimism" is thinking that there's be a "heaven" with a cuddly god and endless supplies of pizza; the hard-nosed realism on the other hand is relying instead on logic and evidence to model the world.
I hate pizza and I hate the hard nose macho realism guff which somehow turns assent of what Litmus paper does in acid or other fact into an act of heroic self sacrifice for the truth in the war against theism.

Tell me, are there four Rs or three in Grrr?

God did not make you as His puppet.  He wants you to freely choose to follow Him.

Try the quattro stagioni, and fortunately there's only one "r" in "gibberish".

It's "gods" plural, and why then in your opinion should anyone agree with your personal choice on the matter rather than accept their own?

Then I'll need something a tad more convincing than I've seen do date - perhaps it should do something to inhibit all the fallacious nonsense in favour of something more reasonable, and if it insists on referring to supernatural stuff then some kind of method specific to assessing such claims would be helpful.

Curious reply - so tell me, why is my 'soul' not being more proactive in pointing me towards 'God' by influencing my choice? Based on what you've claimed for 'souls' I'd have thought it could do that.

Perhaps I don't have a 'soul'.

Hi Gonners,

Quote
And I had you down as a thinking man, step one should read, look up the history of the word, see this is where atheists don't engage ( not all ) they are stuck in the 21st century, check out the history of the word atheist and then the history of the word Myth.

Better to be "stuck" in the 21st century than in those that preceded it though surely?

I would have thought intelligent humans are more likely to be unbelievers as there is no verifiable evidence any god exists.

We won't find that out until we get there.
It kind of looks like that you will need a new 'brain' to continue to allow your soul to keep working doesn't it?

Your soul is a free spirit, free to drive your conscious awareness wherever it chooses.  God wants your soul to turn towards Him, but of its own free will.  God has given plenty of pointers, but you are free to ignore them if you so wish.  And the Devil also has influence to tempt you away from God, and the Devil's most powerful weapon is to convince you that it does not exist.

since you still haven't provided any logically coherent definition of what free in terms of decisions  means, yet again your post is meaningless.
