Rubbish, you have just made that up!
No he didn’t. It’s how I have always classified myself.

I do not believe there is a god but I acknowledge the possibility I might be wrong.

In a sense I am agnostic about everything in the real World. There is no absolute proof of anything in the real world. Our knowledge of the world is always subject to the possibility of being refuted, although sometimes the possibility is pretty remote.

Maeght,

Depends what you mean by “reject” I suppose. Vlad just skips the gap from “god” to “belief in god” in the hope no-one notices, but as an atheist I “reject” the belief in god because I can see no good reason to have that belief. I can’t though “reject god” in the sense that as an atheist I can think, “I know you’re there god, now bugger off”. See also the stupidity of “goddodging” as if you can “dodge” something you don’t think to be there at all.

Worth noting by the way that in theory at least you can be a theist and an antitheist. That is, you can believe in a god but at the same time conclude that you really wished he wasn't there.

Absolutely.

Do you believe in god(s)?

As I have stated many times, there is a remote possibility some sort of deity could exist, but I am of the opinion the gods worshipped by humans are created by them. Of course I could be wrong, but hope that I am not.

To be fair your post was ambiguous. You didn’t say which term you thought LR doesn’t understand until she selected the wrong one.

Thanks. :)

Yes, we all do that.

But the question was "do you believe a god exists", and it seems to me that your answer would be No, as it would be for me.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN that you believe a god does not exist. You are claiming no knowledge, you would just be confirming that at this moment you do not believe a god does exist.

That is all it means. Saying you are an atheist does not carry a burden of proof.
It is the default position.

I am saying it is not possible to know for sure, but to my way of thinking it is improbable that one does exist, as surely there would be verifiable evidence to substantiate its existence, which there isn't.

Yes that's all good.

So when asked the question "do you believe a god exists" your answer would be "No" is that right. You do not have to know for certain and that would make you a Agnostic Atheist. You do not believe a god exists, but you do not claim this as knowledge.

This is my position as well. I could change my mind and my beliefs if I have sufficient reason to do so.
It's just that all the claims of gods so far, have not met the burden of proof as far as I am concerned.

I don't think any gods worshipped by humans exist, but I don't know that for certain.

Where Are You God?

Where are you God when we need you?
Where are you God when we pray?
Where are you God in our darkness?
Where are you God in our day?

Where are you God in grief’s anguish?
Where are you God in our despair?
Where are you God in our torment?
Where are you God, are you there?

Where are you God when we’re hurting?
Where are you God in our pain?
Where are you God in our crying?
Where are you God, please explain?

But apparently an agnostic atheist does not think God is not their at all because the existence of God is not finally dismissed.

The agnostic atheist is of course taking a punt and, thence having a horse in the race is prone to biases just like everybody else.

Of course some only admit their evasive behaviour further on vis, St Augustine.

In his case he could not let God in because he wanted the independent life. Augustine on reflection categorises his career flitting arounddifferent philosophies and indeed religions as evasion of God.

If Hillside thinks there is not a God at all then isnt that hard atheism?

Kirk: “Uhuru – this transmission isn’t in any known language. Try the pan-galactic universal translator.”

Uhuru: “Aye-aye Captain.”

(Several minutes of increasingly high pitched bleeping, followed by a flash and smoke pouring from the console)

Uhuru (coughing): “I’m sorry Captain – I’ve tried everything, from the ancient texts of the Aardvarkians to the mystical scripts of the Zen’e, but it just comes back as gibberish in every one of them.”

Kirk (looking thoughtful): “You know, maybe they’re smarter than we think – trying to look like they have delusions of adequacy just to fool us. Shields up!”

Do you believe a god exists?
This is a simple question and is either Yes or No.
It is a binary option with only two possible answers,  but you seem to not answer when asked or I have not noticed

Oh for pity's sake, I DON'T KNOW!

So you do not believe.

We all do  ot know, but I did not ask if you knew, I asked if you believe, and you either do or you don't.

Knowledge is a subset of belief so if you do not know you must not believe.

You seem to want to hold an impossible position.

Perhaps I've misunderstood you here but if it is true that
1) 'we all do not know' and 2) 'if you do not know you must not believe'
then would it not follow that nobody could believe in God? - which clearly isn't the case.

As I understand it belief in God is supposed to be a leap of faith, not an assertion of certainty (though some might like to profess this).

Though I am not a believer myself it would seen perfectly plausible for someone to oscillate between belief and unbelief, or perhaps to hover in a kind of liminal zone that is neither belief nor unbelief. I think many religious people do precisely this.
