Does it matter to you if you can't prove what you believe to others?

Of course not...I don't think so. Belief is a way of understanding the world in relation to oneself and ones interactions with it. We don't need to prove it to anyone.

If proof was the criterion...most beliefs would be abandoned.

PS: Sorry...I just corrected the first sentence.

Precisely!

No !!! Not at all. Why should I care? My belief is exactly that. It's like trying to get people who would never watch Coronation St because they really don't like it, to sit & view it day after day for weeks !?!?!??!?

If people cared less then most of the world's crap would be flushed down the bog where it deserves to be. ;)

I've been playing - learning the Indian sitar for well over 30 years, most people find it fascinating but others have said stuff like, Oh it reminds me of Pakis !!!!?!?!?

I DID laugh when a guy said this but it didn't make me feel the need to explain about Indian music to him. If he'd have asked, then YES I would've.

Tell you what - I was having a great time watching that Morecambe & Wise thing on Beeb 2 a day or so ago. Must be about 40 years old that footage & as fresh today as it was then. I feel anyway. But WHO CARES ?!!?!? LOL

Anyways, how about the Christians here? I posted here specifically as it seems important to Christians in a way that it doesn't to other faiths and paths. It was important to me back when I was a Christian too, but looking back I can't think why - except I suppose I thought 'true for me' was 'true for everyone'.  :-\

Hey, you're allowed to give them whatever nicknames you like.

But why try to do that with pseudo-science and inaccuracies? Why not just demonstrate your truth through how you live your life?

Having certain beliefs is one thing...but believing that we are superior to others and therefore need to force our beliefs on them... is another thing.

All humans have beliefs one way or the other. But only some groups believe that they are superior to other people and therefore need to eliminate their beliefs...even to the point of eliminating the people themselves.

Sorry Alan but the deity is up the creek without a paddle where you are concerned, as your posts aren't convincing in the least. As for the 'truth' you might believe your POV is such, but cannot produce the tiniest bit of evidence to support your claim!

If we cannot justify our beliefs to others, that might be an indicator that the belief is unjustified.

If you are talking about the cause of the universe and life, yes, there is only one truth. Sadly, NOBODY knows what it is yet.

Maybe that's right. Maybe it is in the nature of a belief, that it can be supported by some degree of justification, but not proof.
