I don't think they are funny if they prevent genuine emergencies being dealt with at once!

Anyone making such a frivolous call should be prosecuted, imo.

Amusing though they are, a good exercise would be consider who at least some of the calls should have been aimed at.  For instance, price of fish and chips: local chamber of commerce or perhaps the Trading Standards Bureau?
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

Lists of what is needed and a search engine to find your nearest collector (scroll to bottom for latter) are here:  http://www.twam.uk/donate-tools

:: A topless man who was lying in the middle of a road in Glastonbury saying he was "basking in positive energy"

Hang on..

Was the call made by the guy lying there, or by someone reporting that he was lying there? If the latter, then a 999 call was quite correct, as there was immediate danger to life and limb

I'm concerned about the 101 guy. I know that some people repeatedly ring day after day after day. But in a short period of time out of hours there could have been something causing a great deal of pain that wasn't being addressed, even if the cause didn't register as 'serious'.

Fish and chips! If there's one thing I miss about England it's fish and chips. I could do with some now. It'd sort out my hangover.

Dear ad,

Food of the gods, beautiful flaky cod in that rich crispy batter, vegetarianism I'am afraid for me can only be a pipe dream.

Fish and chips don't seem to be as yummy as they used to be, maybe because they no longer come wrapped in newspaper! ;D
