An interesting item on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 show on the way in which Google (and other search engines) use information you 'provide' (in emails, internet searches, etc.) to push advertising in your direction - and that fact that they then sell this kind of data to businesses - and potentially less 'snooping' search engines. DuckDuckGo was mentioned in this context. Any others that folk here use to avoid Google and the 'big' names.
