Sodom: Has Biblical City Of Sin Been Found?
« on: October 14, 2015, 02:29:14 PM »

The location of the original city of sin, Sodom - destroyed by fire and brimstone according to the Bible - may have been discovered in Jordan.
Archaeologists excavating the Tall el Hammam site say it was a major Bronze Age city-state and matches "every Sodom criterion".

What does anyone think of this...

If it existed no doubt Sodom was destroyed by a volcano or some such other natural disaster nothing to do with any deity.

And was it the only place like it on earth???
The Bible seems to ONLY concentrate on certain parts of the Middle East.
MMMMM
Wonder why that is?!?!?  ;) ;) ::)
Maybe because it's God inspired but completely man-made ?!?!?

There is archaeological evidence for the existence of Sodom,  go find out about the Ebla tablets.

Mr. monkey,
Only concentrates on certain areas of the Middle East? Try reading the book of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah and then the New Testament.

According the Wikipedia Today, the scientific consensus is that "Ebla has no bearing on ... Sodom and Gomorra.".

Tall el Hammam seems to have a lot of supporters regarding it being Sodom, though not everyone agrees. An interesting archaeological site and could be the basis for the story, but but going in search of biblical sites has its problems of course - go looking for something you can convince yourself you've found it even when there is no direct evidence.

Oh, I see... you don't question Archaeologists 'Sodom Criteria' if they were trying to disprove the Bible, but you want the Criteria explained when they believe they have evidence to support the Bible... Go figure... How come you cannot find it for yourself. Do you not question everything people call evidence?

We know where Lot's wife is.  She's on the road signs.  How far could she have got before she looked back?

Your aggressive response to a perfectly reasonable question tells me that you don't know what the Sodom criteria are.

Really? The evidence supports the Biblical account of it's sudden and fiery end.

Oh, you want them to dig up evidence that the people were sinning and God had a hand in Sodom's destruction? They will never dig that up that Mr. monkey. So don't lose any sleep over it.

What an evil b*stard the deity would have been to destroy a city for no better reason than some were gay. Being gay is normal and only nasty bigots think otherwise! >:(

Most certainly won't as I don't believe half the Bible anyway & the other half then becomes suspect !!!!  ;)

It isn't an aggressive response.  I merely pointed out the fact you would not have asked for the criteria had it been against the bible. But why have you not been able to discover the criteria for yourself? Is it in the report or link? Not been well enough to examine fully for myself.

What about the things you've said about your mother?
