Bernie Eccletwat

Just saw this report on the BBC. I think it's time Bernie retired quietly to a nice home without any sharp objects.

Quote
"I don't think [Blatter] should have ever stepped down. I don't think he should have been challenged... If people allegedly have been corrupted to make things happen in their country, it's good... It's a tax football had to pay."

Corruption is all good apparently and it's no more than "a tax". I mean WTF, could he say anything more stupid if he tried?

Quote
[Ecclestone] also backed Russian President Vladimir Putin and said there was "no place for democracy".

Oh, right... so yes then.

I, for one, welcome our new corrupting anti democratic overlords

I wanted to start a thread on this but couldn't find the right words. 'Eccletwat' is about right though.

I watched the drivers in the post-race room after Sochi shaking hands with Putin in disbelief.

Incidentally did you know part of Eccletwat's fortune comes from one of his stunningly beautiful ex-wives who has to pay him palimony?

. . . . and now this

That actually seems quite logical. He'd be suing a Formula One team for breach of contract.

Yeah - because all the major engine suppliers to F1 have refused to supply them with and engine and I have yet to see an F1 car race without one!!

They had a perfectly good engine contract with Renault until they tore it up.

Not quite - Mercedes have pointed out that they already supply several teams, and to add two more would mean that they were supplying more than half the field.

Ferrari have offered them a deal that they just don't like. Renault's deal is still in place.

They have options, they just don't like those options - much like, I'm guessing, Ferrari, Mercedes, Lotus, McLaren and the others didn't like trailing behind Newey's fantastic packages for the last 4 years, but they knuckled down, did the work, and either their times have come again or they may do in the future.

That's the nature of competition - the only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner.

Agreed - does seem rather like throwing their toys out of the pram because they weren't winning any more.
