Blessed clouds in Nottingham, oh the joy of shade.

We had those yesterday, but they were just a stupid big duvet holding all the heat in.

Interesting. The BBC now gets its weather information from MeteoGroup, a private sector weather information provider with customers all over Europe.

MeteoGroup, however, gets its information from national services - like the Met Office.

This seems to be an extension of the UK government's belief that the private sector is "more efficient" than the public sector. There appears to be a perception that the service being provided by MeteoGroup is not as accurate as that formerly provided by the Meteorological Office. Is this a potential Carillion?

The Met Office got dropped after the 'barbecue summer' fiasco, although I've no idea if there was a connection. I've certainly found the Met Office to be better than the BBC recently. But if Meteogroup use the Met Office then why the discrepancy?

Likewise Leicester - broken cloud at any rate. In fact it's forecast to be a cloudy week, thank goodness. Who'd have thought a prolonged clear blue sky could be so boring?

Me: It's still hot today.

Child: No it isn't, it's lovely in here.

Me: You are sitting in front of a fan.

Child: Oh yeah.  ::)

Still stupid hot today, cloud doing no favours. Supposed to drop 6 degrees tomorrow.

According to forecast for my area we have to wait until 24th for rain. There will be showers on 24th and 25th and then back to like it is now.

Something wonderful happened not long ago - a light wind blowing all the trees, washing I put out on line when I got home and curtains by the open door. It's heaven.

It is a bit cooler today, thank goodness, and there is much more cloud about.

My neighbour has his lawn sprinkler most of the night. The majority of it seems to end up on my kids's trampoline. Pillock.

Enjoying the cloud and the cool...it ain't gonna last long though.

A neighbour had a sprinkler on his front lawn the other day, most of it was landing on the pavement, what a waste of water.

At least in my neck of the woods it's not forecast to get any warmer than 25°C and that's at the weekend. Otherwise 22-23° and a good deal more cloud seems to be on the cards - though I've heard that the middle of next week could see the onset of much more changeable weather. If "changeable weather" is a euphonium for "It might actually bloody rain for the first time in ages" I won't be unhappy.

I would have thought that would hardly be a cause for alarm anywhere in Wales.

Wasn't rain invented in Wales?

HA!HA! We have lived in Wales since 1990, it doesn't seem to have anymore rain than the other places we have lived over the years, Derbyshire, Bath, Kent and Cambridgeshire. We could certainly do with it at the moment.

You're not wrong! When it does rain I am going to stand out in it and enjoy.

It has been cooler today, pleasant. I went out at 7am and got home about five minutes ago and it is really hot again. Having a nice long drink of water as I type.

You're now living in Wales, did you get turfed out of those other places? We're quite fussy in Essex.

The Essex coast is very long and varied, plenty of interest, wildlife, places of beauty. Has lots of sun as well.

Have a look at Finchingfield, Thaxted, Dunmow, the Great and Little Bardfields and Banardiston Quindon, Ugley as well, all North Essex and none of these are anything like the generally portrayed image of Essex, their's plenty more like these.

Barnadiston is in Suffolk.

My mistake, Barnardiston is very near to the border I haven't looked at a map yet but I think it may be a wavy border line where the road goes in and out of each county, a bit similar to the Swiss German border line, but then I don't know and as you say.

It's north of Haverhill, so very Suffolk, but I know well the wavy line that you refer to. Drove through Bures the other day, hadn't been there for years. The Belchamps too... I see hares all the time but that's the only place I've ever seen them boxing, and somewhere round there Unwins (think it's them) grow fields of sweet peas for seed.

And we can't not mention Castle Hedingham.
