I was away in N.Devon for a fortnight this time last year. It was very hot but we had a storm in the middle of the holiday and a few showers. Wish I was there now but going next month so not long to wait.

Well, two lots of rain promised, two lots arrived. 

Boasting eh? I'm still waiting, according to Met Office rain will come in half an hour.

We should have had rain by now, it was cloudy, but is brightening up again. I don't know why they bother giving a forecast on-line for specific postcodes, it keeps changing throughout the day.

Just got caught in a storm coming home. Am now soaked through. 

Hasn't lasted though but the Met Office were spot on about a storm hitting now so hopefully they will be about the later rain that is due too.

Dry here - just watching the evening horse racing and it is hammering down at both York and Newmarket.

I quite like slugs.

Admittedly not as much as snails, brought up on Magic Roundabout as I was (Brian was my dad's name), but even so.

I rescue snails. Slugs aren't so easy to pick up.

Snails have handy carrying cases. On my late-night walks with the dog in damp weather, slugs are a trickier proposition.

Still raining...roads starting to flood. The farmer behind me was wise working through the night to get the harvest in. With the force of the rain there will be crops down, and hailstorms were only a few miles away earlier.

Rain overnight - not the stair-rods thunderstorms they forecast, but still rain - and now overcast, breezy and 20°C. Relief isn't the word.

Rained a bit overnight - a short heav burst this morning but clear now - heavy rain expected tomorrow. A relief indeed.

Cool breeze following a heavy downpour today... feels normal again. For now.

Exactly same here, I was up early and it was pouring down. Great! Now the wind is whipping the tree branches around & all is well (wish it would last), S'posed to rain again later for a few hours.

More rain overnight. Today (Friday) has been fresher - this morning it was sunny, but not nearly as hot as of late, thanks to a stiff breeze (and the rain during the night probably helped, as well). By early afternoon, it had clouded over, and tried to rain, but that didn't come to much. All in all, a very welcome relief. (I'm in Hemel Hempstead.)

Heavy overcast, fairly strong wind, chilly for July, and steady rain - not heavy, but it's been going on for quite some time, and looks set to continue for some time to come. I wouldn't normally welcome such weather, but it's a pleasant relief after recent weeks. The light but steady rain is much more beneficial to gardens and plants generally than a torrential but short downpour would be (and torrential downpours are always short).

This is the first time I have touched my computer in three days. I am now in SW France where the sun is shining in a cloudless sky.

I spent a significant portion of Thursday at the Eurotunnel terminal in Kent. My departure was five hours late, I arrived in France far to late even to think of making my way to the hotel where the bed I had paid for would be waiting. I slept in the car several times during the 900km journey (... err not while it was moving) and have laid the most hideous curse imaginable on Eurotunnel.

The grass in my garden here is the same colour as that in England but when I awoke following my first night in my French home I found that water had fallen from the sky while I slept. There has been no more, though.

Been raining most of the day here in suburban Bromley (London Borough but Kent to H), blowy too. I got up late so don't know what time it started. Good! Not looking forward to the next few days though when the weather will once again heat up.
