South West France - Aquitaine.

On 31 August summer was switched off. Until that day the temperature had been 33 degrees and above (with accompanying high humidity but no rain) for some time. There was a small amount of rain on Thursday but the temperature dropped to about 20 degrees.

Autumn is now on its way. There is unlikely to be a large leaf fall this year - many trees seem to have jettisoned their leaves during the drought and have few left.

I shall be back in the Midlands on Wednesday.

Strange seeing a red sun high up in the sky, caused by desert sand caught up by the hurricane apparently.  I thought it was Old Nick's Wormwood for a minute. ;)

Yes, there are some incredible pictures of London, shrouded in a sort of yellow and red fog, I suppose dust from the south.

The weather fairy must have read the post I made yesterday on this thread, and obliged. It is pouring down out there and set in for the rest of the day according to the forecast for our postcode. I am so thankful that there is no river in our neighbourhood, and we live on high ground, unlike our previous property, which was in a valley only a few yards from the river. :o

Sure sign of imminent winter, moved the revolving clothes line to winter position nearer to the house and stone footpath.

My wife is somewhat vertically challenged, so the line has to be in a lower position than where normal people would put it, on the good side, when it's in its winter position nearer to the house I don't have so many fights with the bloody thing.

Snow started falling here on Thursday night - by Friday morning thre was abour an inch and a half's worth, and no wind. A sliight thaw was ended by sleet and hail showers throughout yesterday
This morning the place is an ice rink.
I wish someone would invent a long cane which deals with snow and ice......

Light snow flurries around 7:40am here, but soon disappearing. A very cold and slightly slushy drizzle thereafter.

Leicestershire. Frequently one of the hotter spots during a heatwave, but when it's cold, it's cold ...

We have plenty of the white stuff this morning, I had to be careful not to slip over when I went for my walk.

Many of the schools in our area are closed.

Floo I have actually put the sun lounger away in the shed now, I wouldn't want you to think I might be exaggerating how much better the weather is down here in the S E, Essex, mind I do live in north Essex.

Kind regards ippy

Still no snow here; hard frost and the road has the look of something I don't want to be driving on.

Snow and lots of it - 0° and according to the forecast likely to carry on snowing for the rest of the day.

Which is great as this is the only time my back garden looks like everybody else's.

I’m not the one driving. Am mildly cheered by the fact that the person who is used to live in Switzerland.
