As we live on just about the steepest hill in Nottingham I also detest the stuff - although I do find it entertaining watching the cars that use our road as a cut through struggle and slide to the bottom of the hill. Serves you right you bastards for ignoring the residents only access signs.
Before we work on Artificial Intelligence shouldn't we address the problem of natural stupidity.

A light sprinkle of floopowder overnight; now still, almost clodless sky, sunny, not too cold. The Beast from the East is proving to be a wee. sleekit, cowran, tim'rous beastie from the eastie so far.

In addition of my normal disregard for the stuff, I am  travelling  - in theory - to Bologna tomorrow
looks like the weather there is similar to ours at the moment . Save yourself the trouble and money and spend your hols in the local pub instead . Sorted !

Even with the profusion of Italian restaurants in Glasgow, none get close to Bologna, and my local pub, while it has an estimable wine list, isn't a patch on what I will be having for half the price in an osteria if I make it

London suburbs not too bad this morning - nice and sunny and very pretty. I tried to have a snowball fight but not much success with the powdery snow. About to brave the tube delays.

Drove the kids to school this morning and after I dropped them off, couldn't stop at the junction from a side road to a bigger road outside their school even though I had big tyres and was going slowly  - it was going slightly downhill. Luckily there was nothing coming on the bigger road when I slid onto it. Stupid of me to not put the 4WD on in the snow I guess.

Blue sky and sunshine here but very cold wind. I'm hoping this area will be a snow-free one between east and west.

Or just making conversation. Lots of 4WD cars in London - nothing noteworthy but bloody useful compared to the slipping wheels of 2WD cars trying to reverse out of driveways and then drive forward down my road this morning.

From the BBC website - Bologna looking very far away

BreakingScotland weather warning upgraded to red

Areas of Scotland will be upgraded to a red weather warning, the Met Office's most severe warning.

The red warning will be in place between Wednesday at 15:00 and Thursday 10:00 GMT.

The following areas are affected:
• Central, Tayside and Fife
• Southwest Scotland,, Lothian Borders
• Strathclyde

A red warning means that risk to life, widespread damage, travel and power disruption is likely.

Supposed to be going to a funeral this afternoon. White stuff has other ideas.... staying put in case the funeral ended up being miner. Buses have now been withdrawn from sevice, gritters stuck in main stree of my town....which wasn't supposed to be badly affected.

The added issue with this is I was due to meet my wife in at Heathrow tomorrow as she is currently in London. We could end up now getting to Bologna and being stuck apart.

We had a red snow warning some years ago when the temp when down to -17. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do that I wouldn't normally do when it snows. Ring my mum and cry?

I think it's more to get people to stop making plans to travel at the time in case they get caught in it.

I thnk the warnings translate as follows:

Yellow - unless you really have to don't travel, and make sure you have enough food in
Amber - if you are not travelling to save lives, don't and make soup, lots of it
Red - Don't fucking travel, and make sure you are not the weakest person in your group.
