Very annoyingly, the snow arrived in the early hours - I was hoping it would hold off until this afternoon.today, so I have had to cancel tap dancing.  I could get there and home again easily by taxi, but it is no good expecting the others to go out onto the roads.

It’s worse today here too, although not as bad as when it really did get to -17. The supermarket is supposed to be delivering its bounteous goods of finest soon.

My mobile phone hasn’t been working properly for the past couple of days too.

You'll like this one...... Ayr Crematorium's been shut. Apparently they can't guarantee the safety of those attending funerals, since the road's a bit iffy.

The supermarket isn't delivering its boxes of bounteous goodies after all.

I don't think I swore at the store manager.

Ok, three kids at home, no food and I can't get off my drive...

We had a red snow warning some years ago when the temp when down to -17. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do that I wouldn't normally do when it snows. Ring my mum and cry?
Red snow?! :o

And my wife couldn't get any form of transport back today, and it's looking like tomorrow won't work either. I would go to the pub but they are shut.

Yes, red snow. Pinkish really, looks a bit blood stained. Caused by algae and has horrible scientific name that sounds like a sexually transmitted disease. Aristotle mentioned red snow.

I went out at 7am & it was snowing then but I kept to main roads, it was alright. Not many cars about. Just got in and house seems cold despite having good heating. My road has a big blanket of snow covering it & the trees look magical. I sure was glad of my Uggs today.

So the van of loveliness didn’t come, so I went into ninja mode. I attacked the kitchen and produced home made bread, carrot and orange soup, a crumble made with some sad looking pears, and there’s a lentil ragu simmering on the stove.

There's something to be said for this arctic weather - we've all just finished work at the mail centre about two and a half hours early, because the country's snow-bound, and no mail is moving anywhere. This happened once before, about 10 years ago, but that was in the depths of Winter, not, as now, on the cusp of Spring.

Yesterday I went to a tobogganing slope which I last used about 27 years ago. We used to live there so it was easy to get to, now it's quite tricky as you have to get as close as possible by car.

Snow is good. This week I was reminded of one thing I particularly like about it, which is it seems to have a soothing effect on the eyes, a bit like looking at the sky, or the rising sun. For some reason google only brings up websites that say UV light reflected off snow is harmful.
My theory is that provided you don't look at it too much, it can have a good effect because the light is directed upwards. It hits the upper part of the retina, which usually doesn't receive as much light as the lower half.
