Sometimes there are hold ups in tunnels, stop/start, but generally it's quicker.
So I'm told , although observation of such can provide stimulating relief .

If one has great patience and a long stayer temperament, not impatient to get it all over and done with.

Where I live the snow has gone and temperature far less cold. In fact back to normal.

Thank goodness for the thaw.  Our boiler had frozen, but the gas engineer had a clever trick to bypass the condensation outpipe.   It is not much fun sitting around an electric fire in one room, while every other room is about 10 degrees.

so the bloke who came to fix your boiler had a degree in gas engineering . Sounds rather over qualified for that kind of work to me .

perhaps the fish monger on the shopping parade should be referred to as a marine biologist then?

anyway, glad you're warm again , current temp in my living space is 11.7C (if there's one thing I've learned  it's the fact that you become accustomed to it after a while)  wearing more clothes helps too ! ;)

Now our water has been cut off, in the middle of London!  This is like a 3rd world country, I guess it's good training for Brexit.

Last man to leave Engerland can he please turn out the lights oh and turn off the water.

Never mind we still have the BBC and Her Majesty, wonder what price the Tories have on those very British institutions.

Dear Wigs,

Aye but we will be proper British again, we can wheel out all of Bernard Mannings old jokes, have you heard the one about the Englishman, the Scotsman and the Irishman, well apparently we will have a new border with Paddy, we, us Brits will pay for it and Paddy will get the contract.

We may have to rewrite some of those old jokes with us Brits being the thicko's.

The roads were still dodgy here yesterday due to ice that hadn't quite melted at the side of the road and lying water from the thaw. Too wet to garden.  :(

Breezy, chilly, quite a lot of cloud but some areas of blue sky - typical early-March weather, really.

It was below freezing, with a very sharp wind, at 6,30 this morning (don't ask) but my car was completely free of frost and condensation. There is still snow lying around but it does seem to be going, now.

Snow is good. This week I was reminded of one thing I particularly like about it, which is it seems to have a soothing effect on the eyes, a bit like looking at the sky, or the rising sun. For some reason google only brings up websites that say UV light reflected off snow is harmful.
My theory is that provided you don't look at it too much, it can have a good effect because the light is directed upwards. It hits the upper part of the retina, which usually doesn't receive as much light as the lower half.

Wrong the image is reversed when received on the retina at the back of the eye, your brain then turns this image through 180 degrees for you, I would have thought this was common knowledge.

Mowed the lawn for the first time this year today and I was thinking of all sorts while I was mowing, how hard it must be north of Watford, with the midnight sun and I suppose you do have the bonus of seeing the northern lights, then the clocks go back tonight, all while I'm happily whistling the Italian national anthem, catchy little tune.

Wish I was too Sweet Pea! Completely forgot about the clocks & was grumpy when I got up - yet another hour might have made a difference. All sorted now.

Well, I do hope you remembered that the clocks went forward  not bak!
Weather very pleasant here, but instead of marching off to do my three miles, I justwalked a hundred yards back and forth several times. I shall be a bit circumspect until I know more about the state of my heart.
